Fully Restored Walter Travis Course

Say no more, classic Walter Travis Course that is extremely short. However with buried elephants in these classic Travis greens it has all the challenge and character needed!

Great walk and enjoyed the river and coves throughout!

Amazing greens that roll pure

This course doesn't get recognition for being one of the top courses in Maine, but it should. Course conditions were perfect, greens were excellent and rolled pure, fairways well groomed, rough full and short so very playable, and tee boxes were in great condition. Staff was extremely nice and made me feel like I was a member. The course is short but the greens complexes with wind make up for that. Also I walked the course, cart not needed if your looking to save a little money.

Thank you...

...Golf Club Atlas, yet another great recommendation.
This Course is very special. You don't usually get to play a Walter Travis designed course. This is George Bush's home course when he is in Kennebunkport. The clubhouse is named after him. Although not long, its all about the green complexes, with their many undulations and false fronts. It is so important on where to place your tee shots and how to approach the green. The Staff and members couldn't be nicer.

Fun and challenging short course

I have played this course a few times and have never seen anything like it. First of all, the conditions are some of the best that I have played on. They keep improving each year and it is hard to find anything to complain about at this point with regards to the fairways and the greens. The greens usually run at about a 9 or a 10 and are extremely pure- but tricky. You need to be able to put approach shots (usually with wedges) near the pin or else a 3 putt can be imminent. If you are at least an average golfer, play the back (black) tees, the course is not long, and playing the whites costs you all of the best/scenic/interesting tee shots on the course. Also, one thing to note is that the pace of play is like no other course. Even on a packed Saturday with foursomes clogging the course you will finish 18 in less than four hours. All of the staff are also very friendly. In my opinion, this course is one of the best in Maine, right up there with Belgrade and Sugarloaf.

nice course

I've played this course twice and have enjoyed both times. The first time, I walked as a single. This last time, I started as a single and then joined another two-some in front of me. While the course itself is a bit tight, the most challenging aspects are the greens, which makes playing the course both fun and at times frustrating—especially if your approach shot doesn't go as planned.

While not a pure links style course, I would recommend it to anyone. I will be playing it again next time I'm in the area.

Some Old School Golf

Cape Arundel looks like a pitch and putt course as you drive in. People chuckle when they see the yardages on the scorecard. These thoughts are quickly debunked as soon as you get to the first hole. You see this quaint little course has two great equalizers - the wind and it's greens. You are constantly recalculating your club selection in an attempt to figure in the wind. On top of that, so many greens have false fronts and steep drop offs on the sides, you may never get comfortable hitting a shot. That being said, it is a fun course to have a go at and a very walkable track. The 8th seems to be a typical short par 4, but it is usually into the wind and the green is a roller coaster of hills and breaks that make 2 putting from anywhere a challenge. The 17th is another short par 4, into the wind, to a blind green that sits at the bottom of a 30 foot hill. This green is like no other on the planet, and you could putt it off the back of the green and into the river. A 4 is a fine score on this gem. The conditions are always good and the course is very quiet in the fall after the summer beach crew has gone. The clubhouse is like an old log cabin and has very spartan amenities. You can feel and see the history everywhere,. CA might be most famous for being the summer golf club of President George H.W. Bush. I am not sure if he is still playing the course or not, but you surely should if you are on the southern coast of Maine

Great Historic Course

This is a short semi private resort course in Kennebunkport, ME. Dont let the length fool you though. These are some of the trickiest greens ive ever played, and I dont expect to score better here than I would at any other course.
