Had the course to ourselves!
The most pathetic course in the area. Can't believe they are still in business. Would like to play 18 holes, but they only take care of 9 if you can even say they are taking care of it. No sand in bunkers, can lose your ball in fair way, rough is extremely tall with cut grass on top so cannot find your ball in the rough. Greens are extremely patchy. Only bright side is pace of play is very fast, because nobody plays there! Its a shame because this is only public course in this town. Somebody needs to buy it and make it playable!
Buy a mower
We visit this part of Ky once a year for family gatherings and i usually bring the clubs with me to play a round with other family members. Had never played South Highland, so I checked out the website and it looked like a decent place to play. Upon entering the facility it appears that at one time this club was very nice at but after checking in and practicing some putts something seemed a bit off. The greens were very long with some very rough spots on many of the holes. I would say it rolled a 4 on the Stimp if that. The main gripe that i had was that it didn't look like they had mowed their fairways or rough in a month which resulted in very slow play from higher handicapped members of our foursome. It's not the US Open so to increase pace of play the second cut should be mowed to an acceptable length. The bunkers were in good positions but their conditions were horrendous, no sand. I did enjoy the layout of the holes. That had some potential. But proper signage was in disrepair causing a first timer to get turned around more than once. This club employs the "two holes per green" method which i did not enjoy but that not to say it was bad, just different and not my cup of tea. Overall I would not play this course when we return to the area unless major improvements have been made. Its like they just gave up on this course and decided to ride it out as long as they can.
Friendly Staff/terrible course
Worst course I've ever played on...the sand traps didn't even have sand in them. They were full of weeds. My buddy lost a ball in the fairway, if you want to call it that. The greens were patchy too. Lots of bare spots. Really discouraging to have a course this close to home in such bad condition. Only positive is we had the course to ourselves.
Don't go.
Course is in poor shape. Weeds in bunkers. Large dead areas on greens. Fairways and tees mostly weeds.
