Course on a comeback
Haven't played Indian Springs for over a year. Course was in decline last time I played. Since the Indian Springs Neighborhood Assn. bought it this year, due to financial difficulties of the previous owner, things seem to have gotten better. The sand is apparently being upgraded in the bunkers. All the front nine bunkers appear to have had their sand replaced, and the sand quality is the best I've seen on any of the dozen or so courses I've played this year. That includes two private country clubs. The back nine had a few bunkers that had yet to be upgraded.
The course is laid out links-style, meandering in and out of a pleasant subdivision over a wide range of property. Much of it is wooded, with many water hazards. Because of the links nature, it plays rather tight, especially number 17, which is an especially challenging hole. This is a very narrow, short par four with a pond to the right of the fairway, which slopes severely towards the water. A drive or second shot here, which does not go in the water is a good shot indeed.
The course, though not pristine, is in very nice condition, considering the difficulties of the last owner. There is, however a good deal of construction near the entrance to the course. The area under construction was sold off to developers, and was the location of the old parking lot. There is a new parking lot which seems much better than the old as far as convenient access to the pro shop is concerned. Perhaps this property sale is the source of the funds responsible for the noticeable course improvements. There is a minor convenience due to the construction coming off #18 near the clubhouse, as well as the eyesore and noise it imposes. However this would in no way prevent me from playing again soon. The clubhouse itself is very nicely appointed.
This is a challenging and fun round of golf for the price. Also it was a pleasant surprise. It appears as if there are only good things in store at Indian Springs CC. I will be playing there again soon.
Good Fall Value
Course was empty in early November. Nicely maintained for this time of year. Only drawback, leaves! Catch those open weather windows for nice day out.
the course was beautiful
greens were excellent as were the fairways.. great course
course was in great shape.10/15/2013
course was great shape. people were friendly. will play here again
yes
Nice course, well maintained, staff was friendly, pace of play was what you would expect for 18 holes 4hr's, driving range overlaps onto hole 18 and you can lose you ball because of the people hitting over onto the 18th because of the range balls but this is a minor issue, water comes into play on a few holes along with houses but this makes for good placement shots off the tee, good course will play again when I see golfnow.com deal
Nice easy course!
Staff was nice. I went 2 days in a row because I was travelling. If I would be living around there, It would one of my favorite course.
Challenging
I thought the course was in great shape. The greens and fairways were nice and well kept. All in all a nice place to play
fun course to play and not crowded
played from the tips making it more fun and the 1st 4 holes loud because of free way noise
greens fast and good shape
different shot selection made it fun
nice people and this time free range balls
will play again
Good value
The course over all was in good to excellent shape. I played with a twosome and what I could see there was 5 twosomes and we were slow played because the first group was very slow.
Great value
The course is much better than it has been in the past. The greens are good, but a tad bit furry. The fairways are good. The rough is spotty. This course is very tight. There are many places where a slightly missed fairway is OB. The deals on Golf Now make this course an unbelievable value.
Very narrow tee off's test your ability to drive straight to get a good score
Enjoyed the experience as a first time to this course, and played with a couple of guys who had played it before and gave me some hints as to the course directions. It is a course that requires a little local knowledge to play well.
I found the tee boxes to have a very narrow view to the fairways and opened up around 100-150 yards from the tee. Houses are also plentiful and very close to the fairways which is rather daunting to an average golfer.
It is a challenge and a second attempt at this interesting layout would be worth the effort.
Staff were extremely friendly and good value for money.
Fun Course...Nothing Fancy
Its really narrow...and you could use an iron for every hole. The course is in decent shape, but nothing spectacular. I only play there if it's a hot deal on golf now.
Always an enjoyable round.
The course is well maintained. The areas around the greens could use some attention but the greens were in very good condition. The fairways were average. You must hit over water on three of the par threes which adds to the challenge of this course. I always enjoy my rounds here.
This course delivered a great experience
I liked the course because the fairways were plush and well maintained. The greens were receptive and offered different putting issues. the staff catered to my needs both at registering and getting unloaded and loaded at the bagging area. Driving range and putting areas were available for warmup.
Very norrow course, I liked the par three's, pretty good shape, too expensive.
Very narrow course, you must hit the fairway to avoid hitting the many houses and properties that surround it. Par 3's are great and hole 17 requires and accurate drive, or you'er toast. The price is not a good value for this course. The staff is great, but the burger I ordered at the turn was way under cooked (not good). The greens were very slow the day I played (you really had to give it something to get to cup. However, the were not bumpy. Overall, it was a nice outing, but worth the full price.
Great Value!
Very nice course thats winds through the Indian Springs neighborhood. Nice proshop, clubhouse, and friendly staff. A couple of fairly tight fairways, that require you to hit it straight. Looking forward to playing this one on a regular basis!
Course has potential
I went out to Indian Springs for a quick 9 holes after work and thought $15 was a pretty fair deal. That being said, I wasn't particularly pleased with course conditions - specifically the greens. It was like putting on shag rug, and halfway through my round I found myself tempted to pick my ball up, rather than mess up the feel I'll have on other, quicker greens. I'd like to give Indian Springs the benefit of the doubt and attribute the length of the greens to the recent rain, but they were miserable to putt on. The course, in general, played pretty well and presented a good challenge. It was also nice having the entire front nine to myself despite there being an evening men's league on the day I played. I would be willing to play here again, but would first want to check with the pro shop that they've mowed.
this is a nice well maintained coarse, not as tight as people say try it .
the only draw back is the yardage markers. they are hard to find . that is the main drawback, you can't tell your distance. please place some side marker!
Average course at best
Course was in decent shape today. Fairways were ok at best, but greens need some help. Best feature was the sand bunkers if that tells you anything. Also seems nobody ever repairs their divot marks on the greens. Water comes into play on several holes which makes the layout a bit challenging, but not difficult.
