Needs lots of work
I am a member of the course and I haven ever been more disappointed in the condition. Tee boxes, greens, and bunkers are still horrible. The area around the greens needs tons of work. Lots of bare ground.
The staff is full of excuses about the course condition. Way too many tournaments are played bringing down the condition of the course. Lots of other better choices in the area for the money. Maybe a new superintendent is needed.
First time, great impression
Course quality (Tee Box, fairways, Greens) great condition considered the hot period we just went through. Ample water stations which helped keep us hydrated for the round. Good selection of distance, hazards, pin positions. Carts were in short supply but got 2 in time for Tee off. Bonus; We got to see the B29/B25/P51/F4U war planes performing over Gardener airfield...we seemed to be in the middle of the circuit!! We will be back...
Excellent Value
Tee boxes, faiwys were excellent. Greens were a little beat up. I love this course. Links style, very open. For those of you who hate trees, play here!
Prairie Highlands
An excellent golf course with perfect fairways and very fast greens. The only distractor we had was the two golfers in front of us held us up on every hole.
Wonderful playing conditions
Fantastic conditions. Bunkers were like concrete due to recent rain
Great layout.
Great course, wonderful design. Challenging, yet not too difficult. Would definitely play again.
Sadly declining, once great course
Bunkers were full with 6-8" of standing water and needed to be pumped out. Saturday & 70 in KC is prime time golf opportunity.
Carts were old and need to be replaced.
The beverage cart frequency William_A_Summers outstanding! Had access many times. No sugar free or low sugar options with Gatorade or comparable.
Prairie Highlands
I thought it was great took $25 from my friend and he whined big time...
Good Value Course
Fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape. As with most public courses the greens courses the greens are somewhat scuffed up (repair your ball marks people). Most of the sand traps are in need of some work to improve condition. the speed of play was very acceptable. Due to interstate construction the facility is a little bit awkward to get to it. Very good value for our group as seniors. Overall I would have to recommend this course to those who have not played it.
Great Track. Over Played
You can't beat this course for layout and conditions. The greens are a bit beat up, but that's expected this time of year. This course hosts a great deal of local tournaments with little help from tournament players to preserve the greens.
The course has water coolers on several of the tee boxes, unfortunately there was little water in them.
We encountered a raucous group playing ahead. Wearing camo cargo shorts and T-shirts, this group played painfully slow and drove their cart into several restricted areas through the round. One of our players struck his second shot (on the #15 par 5) where the group ahead felt he "played into" them. The golfers circled back to his ball, picked it up and threw it into the water hazard. After holing out, he threw the flag over the green.
There are marshals on the course. Apparently out for a nice Sunday ride around the course...
This course has some great challenging and pretty holes.
Big fairways and tough rough, once in the higher rough the ball is gone.. Tee box distances to accommodate all levels of players. We played in about 4 hours so good pace. We paired up with another twosome after two holes due to some slowness, this helped. I would suggest the club to try to limit single and twosomes on the course during prime hours on weekends. At least coach twosomes or less on pace of play and priority given to 3 & 4 somes...
Love this course great shape
Everything you want at a golf course you have it here. I always know what I expect when I come here to play . Great staff and nice people who come here to play.
Great Course
Course is in great shape. Fun and challenging with greens guarded by bunkers. Green are in great shape and have a very nice roll.
Hot
Played last sunday afternoon when temperatures where 90+. Fairways and tee boxes looked like they haven't been mowed in a while. Greens were beat up pretty bad. Worst part of the experience was that none of the water coolers had water in them. When I called the pro shop they told me to come into the clubhouse to get water. You would think they'd be more proactive about filling up their water.
Awesome employees
The employees go out of there way to help you!!!!!
Great Place
Friendly staff, great course, please fix your ball marks
Sad to see this fine track so poorly maintained
Greens slow, spotty and filled with marks and rough areas. Losing many collars and transition areas. Fairways good to above average. Bunkers horrendous. Native grass areas starting to become weedatoriums. Concessions significantly overpriced.
Fine walking track and we got a foursome around in 4 hours. Love the course and hoping it returns to prior prominence with aggressive maintenance program.
Good course
Good value through golf now, course in great shape.
SLOW
Quit after 6 holes it was so slow. 5:45 minute pace. Staff had a 'it is what it is' approach.
Very diaappointed
Having played this course in years past, I was very disappointed in the present overall condition of the course. Fairways were very rough {weeds and other grass coming up through Zoysia), tee boxes were in terrible shape, and greens had a lot of ball marks on them. In all, not very good shape.
They did change superintendents and the course is in worse shape than ever before.
How would a new superintendent stop the management from hosting too many tournaments? I think they need a new GM and possibly the owner should consider selling the course because of inept management.
