An Excellent Track

First time playing this course as I was in the area on holidays. This is an excellent course that is in great shape. It was windy and warm the day I played and although the course was green, it ran well too, much like a links style course so that did help to reduce the wind's effect. The greens were very fast and true and in great shape. Some really beautiful holes. Challenging but fair. I will definitely play this course again when in the area. Clubhouse and practice facilities are awesome too! Play it, you won't be disappointed.

A Northwest Iowa Gem

I've been interested in playing The Ridge for a few years and finally got my chance today. What a hidden gem in Northwest Iowa! I had an absolute blast on this fun and challenging layout.

The front 9 and the back 9 are separated by a street, and are fairly isolated from each other. The front 9 is flatter, and seemed a bit easier for me. The back 9 has a little bit of elevation change, leading to a few blind shots and a little more interesting set of holes.

The layout has great variety. I used a different club for each par 3, which is very rare. Two of the par 5s are reachable in two, while the other two par 5s are real 3 shotters. The par 4s range from medium to long. My only real complaint about the layout is there aren't any drivable par 4s.

The condition of The Ridge is immaculate! The greens are firm and roll fast and true. The fairways are good and the rough is thick but playable. My only nit on condition is, at least when I played, the green surrounds were a bit sticky, so even on holes where it looked like you could bounce it on, the ball didn't want to bounce on.

My favorite hole is the par 5, 15th hole. You tee off to an elevated fairway, before plunging downhill to a green 250 yards away. The green is guarded by a bunker in front and water left. A great risk/reward par 5!

Overall, I'd play The Ridge every day if I could. It is a really fun golf course, that gives you a chance to score, but still presents enough challenge that it's not boring! I can't recommend it highly enough.

Nice course, but watch for slow play.

Course played well. But avoid league nights/days, as they let groups of 6-8 play together, and nobody lets you play through, so you’ll be there a while.

April Golf

Played course many times and was a member. Don't get out much anymore but took the opportunity recently on a warm April day. Course coming through winter ok and in good shape considering time of year. Will always come home and play this course as its best around for 25 miles in my opinion.
