Golf in its most fun form

Loved the chance to play Indian Creek with some locals. To me its everything you want from your local course when your not out playing the big dog courses.

It is a nice easy walk, with some guys playing some great tunes, and a course where if you put the ball in the or near the fairway you got a chance to make some birdies on this par 68 course. It is 9 hole course with 2 sets of tee boxes so you play the front box on the front nine and back box on the back nine.

The greens here are like postage stamps which to me is a great thing cause it makes you a better player. Does take a bit do understand how to play the course. Definitely a land it short and let it bounce and roll to the hole. Flying it all the way to the hole is a recipe for disaster.

Highly recommend if your in the area for a low stress, high fun type of golf course, that is cheap.

Don't miss out.

Fast and Fun Golf

Indian Creek Country Club is a semi-private, 9 hole par 34 course. It features 7 par 4s and 2 par 3s. On the scorecard, the yardage isn't impressive, but the course has natural defenses of thick rough, tree lined fairways and small greens. Given the uniqueness of the layout, many first time visitors are left puzzled at how such a simple looking layout can actually play somewhat difficult.

This is my home course and I've played well over 1000 rounds here. I believe I've seen every inch of the golf course at some point!

The best feature of Indian Creek is that it is one of the most walkable courses I've ever played. The course is relatively flat, and the distances between greens and tees is quite short. I've walked 36 a day here multiple times!

In addition to being walkable, Indian Creek plays quickly. 75-90 minutes for 9 holes is the norm most of the time. And even on a busy Saturday morning, 18 holes can be played in under 3 and a half hours.

The course is lush and sometimes a bit hairy, especially this time of year when the grass is growing really fast. The rough is intentionally kept thick to add a defense to the course. The greens are on the slower side but will reward well struck approaches, chips and putts.

Indian Creek will never make anyone's "best of" lists, but for a quick round with buddies on a layout that will challenge you, there aren't many better choices in the Cedar Rapids area than Indian Creek. Additionally, the shorter length of the course makes it ideal for a round of golf with younger children.

A Solid Foundation For a Fun Round of Golf

Indian Creek may not look like much from the road--or even from the middle of one of its tree-lined fairways--but what it lacks in flash it makes up for in other areas.

The greens might be on the slower side but they look and roll fantastically. The fairways and rough are a bit hairy but they are lush and drain well. The bunkers aren't in great shape but they're small enough to avoid altogether.

Most importantly, the friendly staff and relaxed setting helps you focus on just having a good time with some golf buddies and it's only $15 for 9 holes. For a course like this, that's all you can ask for. A well-executed muni course.

Great 9 Hole Course

Great nine hole course. Able to walk 9 holes in about 45-60 minutes. Quiet, never too busy. Great faculty and staff.
