Bad experience

The front nine on the course went ok, however there were more dead spots on fairways and greens to count. When arriving at #9 green we noticed 3 foursomes on #10 tee. Found out it was 12 college age guys that were all together. We were informed that the 3 groups spent approximately 20 minutes at the turn and hurried to #10 when the group in front of us came up #9. This created a serious log jam on the back. They kept up pace of play ok until #18. When we were walking to 17 green a ball flew a few feet from us and it was the 2nd group just teeing off 18, while the 3rd group was already there waiting to tee off. We were next to 18 tee box when the 3rd group decided to hit into their friends in the fairway. This caused the people in fairway to hit back at their friends on 18 tee box, causing us to get caught in the crossfire. We only missed getting hit by about 1 foot. We called clubhouse and complained and asked for our money back. We were told by director of golf we could get 2 passes to come back, however I told him we lived an hour away. He refused to refund our money telling me that we golfed all 18 holes and there was nothing else he could do. Very unhappy with conditions and customer service at this course. I will never give them another penny.

Average Course

If you looked up average country golf course in a dictionary, there would be a picture of this place. The course is in good shape, save for a few patchy fringes and 1-2 greens had small bare spots. The layout is rather mundane, with a lot of straight holes, especially on the front 9. The back has a few holes with character, like 12, 13, 16, and 17. On 12 and 17 you have tight tee shots, 16 has a tight approach, and 13 is a nice wedge par 3 over a ravine. The course is not very long either, so it's good for basically anyone. Staff was fairly friendly in the clubhouse. Bottom line, it's not a course you're going to write home about, but if you want a confidence building round on a decently conditioned course, this would do.

Fun Course!

Nice layout, preferred back nine to front nine in terms of layout, front is fairly flat, back has some contours and more trouble to get into...nice variety.

As usual, it's just OK

The Ravines has always been a study in underachievement. It's a layout with decent potential but they have never invested the money necessary to really make it nice. The greens are usually in good shape at moderate speed, but the rest of the course is rough as usual. Weeds abound, bunkers are in terrible shape (just hard dirt, not sand), and the grass on the tee boxes looked about like my front yard. No, actually, my yard looks a lot better.

The Ravines remains a place to get your game well and shoot a good score. If you aren't finicky about conditioning, at $25 with a cart it's a decent value. Any more than that, and you wonder why you paid it.

Two Face - Back 9 recommended, once!

The front 9 of The Ravines is a links style running through some homes. It is not bad, but not terribly interesting either.

The back 9 are carved around a natural series of ravines, thus the name. The back 9 is MUCH more interesting. If you can only play 9 this is the side to play!!

The four times I played this course the guy in the pro shop was very dismissive. I usually like to carry a metal water bottle around in my bag while I play in case there is no on course water (which there isn't at The Ravines), when I ask the man in the pro-shop if there is somewhere I can fill my bottle he says, "only here in my sink." *long pause* "So, could I get some water?" *long awkward pause, with a smirk* "Yeah, I'll fill it." Apparently unless you buy a drink he isn't gonna be nice and makes you feel like asking for water is like asking for the keys to his car or something.

Play the back 9 once, then go play somewhere closer to town where you get treated with respect.

This is a very good course. If you play from the tips it is a very long course. The price along with the perfect greens makes this a must play course. The fairways are in excellent condition and well taken care of . The owners are continually updating the course with new sand in the traps and beautifying their course. The back nine is made up of several ravines, thus the name. A must play.
