course was fun
course was fun the greens need to recover but with time and care willbring this course back ,enjoyed the course layout. we like to come back later this summer see how it has improved
Fair Value
Fair value for the price. Greens are in bad shape.
Gone
Every tee box, every green are JUNK! Fairways not much better. Possibly the worst conditions of any course I have played in 40+ years. Very disappointing, as this was once a nice course and a great value.
Not good
Unfortunately this course has went downhill fast. The greens were more dirt that grass with every putt resembling the old Price is Right game “Plinko.” Very little green grass in fairways as well. Each tee box would benefit by having a jackhammer available to get a tee in the ground. If this were the only course available to play i would quit the game and take up croquet. This is all very sad as Honeywell has traditionally been one of my favorite tracks.
Now, for the good news - the course is undergoing an almost $4 million renovation that will result in a new sprinkler system and other necessary upgrades. I look forward to these improvements restoring Honeywell to an even better state than it has been in the past. However, until the project is done, I would avoid playing here at all costs.
Nice Course, tons of Crabgrass
I think that the course itself could use some work. Tons of crabgrass on the fairways and greens were very dry and patchy. Staff was very friendly though and did let us know how the condition of the course was. Do not understand how they could tell us cart path only when the course conditions were as such.
Some "greems" were bare (brown) and cracked from the dryness in places.
Honeywell
Poorly Watered & Maintained. Many of the greens have brown & dead diseases. Poor manners by the mowing crew.
Hidden Gem
Great course, great layout and very friendly staff.
Worth the drive
45 ish min drive and it was well worth the 27 dollars for 18 holes on GN app..... course was beautiful .. it good shape .. can tell they are still working hard to make it even better .... the dudes weed whacking stopped just to be quiet while we hit (which we didnt need lol) it was just a great day and great course
Two different 9s built over 55 years apart
Front was built by Diddel in the 20s and the back 9 was built by Art Hills 55 years or so later. I enjoyed both 9s and the greens on original 9 are great. Back 9 has the better terrain.
Conditions were great and the pace of play was superb. Well worth the play if in area.
Shame
Have played here many times over the years. Course conditioning has dramatically gone downhill. Played the back tees and some of the boxes hadn’t been mowed in several days or longer. Fairways not cut much different than the rough, with a lot of bare spots in them. Greens were OK, on the slow side. For $32, I’d rather pay up $10-$20 and play on much better conditioned courses
