Target Golf

Club Run could be in the dictionary under "target golf". Some of the holes are tight almost to the point of goofy with either small and/or tight fairways or small sections of greens to hit. With everything playing hard and running since we've had no rain recently, it made hitting proper targets very difficult.

You really have to play this course likely several times to figure out where to go and where to miss. Be prepared to punch out from behind trees or hack out of tall grass a lot if you are a little off your game. Lots of very tight doglegs so it's very easy to find yourself blocked out, even from 50-60 yards out if you miss the windows (to be fair some of them could be trimmed back and opened up a little more). If you routine birdie #14, I'd like to shake your hand - probably the tightest and toughest short par-5 I've ever played.

Like it's sister course it's in decent shape, and has a few greens that will get you if you're in the wrong spot. But this course starts and ends with the tee shot - if you miss the right spot, you will struggle to score. Personally, I think Walnut Creek is the better option of the two in terms of layout (I'm not a big fan of target golf to this extreme), but Club Run is nothing if not unique, and it's worth a go if you find yourself there.

Classic Country Course

Walnut Creek has a classic design and is in nice shape. Like most courses, it's playing firm and fast right now. It's tree-lined throughout, so if you spray off the tee you're probably punching out. Some of the tees are a bit warn out, and there are some patchy spots.

You need to play it a few times to figure your way around and where to miss. Some of the doglegs can be tight and water can sneak up on you here and there. At least 4-5 greens run away from you on approach from front-to-back, though some of the others you have to stay below the hole or you'll be lucky to 2-putt. Some elevation change as well. Very friendly staff in the clubhouse and we got around as a twosome in about 2:30. It's a bit out of the way from Fort Wayne or Indy, but if you're traveling between the two it's worth a stop. It is the better of the two choices there (Club Run being the other).
