Quite course
Not a bad course for a Sunday when you are not trying to get slowed down. Ground was hard and tee boxes were in fair condition. No drinks or food on course. Good for the price and the quite play.
Dissatisfied
Played this course many times over the past three years and sadly it is getting worse than better. The course is not at all taken care of. Weeds, geese poop, dried out with some grown over sand traps, and grass clippings everywhere. Difficult to locate your ball with the high amount of grass clippings. Staff was not at all friendly. This course has potential but
it’s just not worth my time and money any more.
very good old links style course
about 5700 yds, great cond. small fairly flat greens, ok fairways, good value even if full price. better players can play just irons to make it more challenging
south shore
If you're a really good player you wont like it.
Course is fairly easy . I'm a 17 handicap and shot an 85 which could have been a few strokes better without a couple mental errors. Numbers 9, 10 and 18 can be trouble. Greens were in very good shape. Proshop/clubhouse is old and nothing much. If you can get the course with a cart for 40$ or less then I'd say go for it.
nice local course
Always a good time. Really enjoyed the round
Great Course for Everyone's Skill Level
Although at first this looks like a course that is very unkept and below average. Don't let the appearance of the old clubhouse fool you. The course is in great shape with a few areas that need some work. Even though it is very straight and short, the elevation changes make it a slight challenge. With properly placed water, bunkers, and hills every hole on this course poses a challenge to even the best golfers. Had a great time playing this round with my dad and will definitely go back and play.
South Shore Country Club
Recently retired trying to take my game to the next level. large fairways make it enjoyable for a high handicapper to work on his game and not get beat up to badly. Friendly staff , a enjoyable experience.
Great Value
We played here with the golf now $22 deal. The course is maintained about as well as a park district course. Longer fairway grass and bunkers more like dirt than sand. The key here is expectations. For $22 riding 18 I was pleasantly surprised. The course layout was great. Ups and downs. Par 3s over water and a river running through a few holes. If you want a perfrctly manicured course and beautiful fairways this isn't your track. Of you want a great value with solid consistant greens and a great course layout this is your course. One of the best values you'll even find at $22.
Great First Golf Course of the Year!
I found this course on Golfnow.com, one of their "Hot Deals". For $18 each (incl fees) we got to play 18 holes with cart, what a deal!
The course was in good shape for the time of year. As expected of early spring, the greens were a little spotty (but better than I expected) and the sand traps were a bit muddy/damp. I bet during summer, everything will be perfect!.
Fairways were nice and wide! Most of the holes are fairly straight, making for a relatively easy course, perfect for practice, or your first round of the year! They have lots of sand traps, and some water, to shake things up a bit. And they have some rolling hills as well.
The staff was great, the kitchen wasn't open, but the staff was able to point us to a place near the teebox of the 2nd hole where we could go get a bite in between 9s. All around, we had a great experience!
Not bad for the hot buy !
Decent shape ! Went for the"hot buy " and that price was awesome . I think regular price is a little to high for this course .
Fairways have long grass!
Some holes are difficult to recognize between fairways and rough since fairway grass is very longer.
Felt much longer than the distance. Small greens. Maybe their strategy cut grass longer!
Hacker's Paradise
Tee'd off as a single at 9:40. Caught another single at the 8th hole. We had a 5 some and another 4 foursome in front of us. None could hit the ball farther than 40 yards, and removed enough grass from hacking to start their own sod farm. Yet wouldn't allow us to pass.
It shouldn't have taken over 4 hours to complete this 6100 yard course.
Conditions of the course are fair.
good value
Course played very nice and for the price you can't beat it. Don't let the short par3's fool you greens are very challenging. Plays at a good pace.Staff is always very friendly.
Just okay
Good course for a beginner....bad greens keeper. Last time I went there were piles of mowed grass and clumps all over the greens. The person in th clubhouse did not seem concerned who I told him and became somewhat annoyed with me.
