Crooked Stick Golf Club, situated just outside of Carmel, was designed in 1964 by the husband-and-wife team of Pete and Alice Dye. The course is both challenging and playable which is why it has been chosen to host numerous events over the years including a U.S. Women's Open in 1991 and the 2005 Solheim Cup. It is consistently ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the country. While there are a few trees scattered throughout the course, the bulk of the layout's difficulty comes from the strategic placement of the bunkers and the variety of elevation changes, which range from subtle to dramatic. The par-4 eighth is the no. 1 handicap hole. This tricky dogleg left has a massive pond along the entire left side and behind the green and there is also a sand trap on the left.
