Nickol Knoll Golf Club
About
Ever since opening in the mid '90s, Arlington Heights Golf Club has been considered one of the best par-3 golf courses in Chicagoland. It is certainly one of the most unique with three holes that feature vertical-drop tee shots and two holes with uphill tee shots to the green. Although this nine-hole course is only 1,163 yards the large bentgrass tees and greens provide the feel of a full-length course. The layout has nearly 30 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on two holes. From the elevated tees you can enjoy a panoramic view of the area, including stunning vistas of the Chicago skyline. Whether you're a beginner looking to get some practice or a scratch golfer who wants to get in a quick round, Arlington Heights Golf Club is a fun and challenging option.

Mother’s Day $15
Play was wide open because it was 11:30am on Mother's Day. The staff is always fantastic there and the course is in pretty good condition for a public course. If you want to practice your short game, this is the place because there is water, a bunch of sand bunkers, rolling hills throughout the course and trees. Every hole is at least 100 yards from the tips with the longest hole being about 165 yards. So leave your drivers, woods and 1-4 irons or hybrid clubs in the bag. Bring the insect repellent as it seems like there are always pesky gnats or mosquitoes there. And yes, this is the property where Walter Payton used to do his training runs, and they have it marked on the course, which is really cool for pro 🏈 fans.
Best
Best part three golf course around here. Scenic. Challenging. If the greens were in better condition, it would be worth five stars.
Well...it was what I expected
Let's face it..... It is a par 3 municipal course. It was what I thought it was going to be.
Nothing fancy, but decent for a golf now price to play with my son, it was fine.
Fun Course, Not a lot of Variance
Wanted to play a 9 hole course to start the year and knock off the ring rust. This was our first time on the course. We walked it (highly recommend, as there's some elevation, but holes are close together, so very walkable). It's a fun layout and the course was in good condition. The staff was friendly and they have snacks and drinks in the clubhouse and facilities around the course (I believe it's park district owned). The only downsides were from a variance perspective, most holes were hitting the same iron off the tee box and then navigating the green. It's a par 3 course, so that's what you're going to get to a certain extent, but I've played some where there's one hole you're hitting your sand wedge and another where you can pull out a long iron or even a fairway wood. This was all pretty much mid-iron, putt (or chip and a putt if you're still rusty on your first few holes). The other knock was pace of play. By the third hole we were waiting on 3 groups ahead of us. Fortunately it was a nice day, and again... early season, park district course, that's kind of what you're signing up for. We made small talk with the other friendly golfers and had a day of it. I would play the course again.
Great par 3 course for beginners, kids, and practice
This is a good course for practicing short game, and fun to take kids to. But it’s very short. Assuming there isn’t any slow playing, it only takes me about 40-50 minutes to complete.
A great little course
Got an hour to kill? IIf it is not busy this is the best way to spend it. Course is fun, lush, and , well, just fun to play.
Great Golf Course
I wanted to go out for a nice quick round of 9 holes. This is the perfect course.
Fun par 3
Alway a fun little course.
But the tee boxes were terrible. Little grass and patchy. Green conditions so so.
Should be reminders for pace of play. Foresome ahead was very slow and one player taking a lot of second shots on duffs.
Needs water and more
Could be a good short course but needs some work. Spray weeds and take better care of the greens/tees.
