The design is very unique because it was built on several hundred acres of natural lava outcroppings, and among Kiawe and wild Llima trees. The holes are constructed on the side of a hill above the ocean, and every hole offers a fantastic view of the ocean. From all but the forward tees, virtually every tee shot requires you to cross a mini-canyon to get to the fairway. The fairways are open and the greens are small and fast. The signature hole is #12, a beautiful par 3, in which you tee off from a cliff over the ocean with the green located on another cliff. The carry on this hole from the men's tee is about 185 yards.
