The Chimneys Golf Course
About
The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Short & Fun Course
Overall a great course.. the greens where pretty beat up I wish people will fix the greens. A couple of areas of improvement is not enough water drinking stations and no ice ( you have 2 broken ice machines), in addition no food, just snacks.
This place use to have some one that cooked , I’ve been told they would start having a food truck but haven’t seen it. It might be just as easy to purchased a grill , tent and some fans on the weekends at least.
They Broke What Didn’t Need Fixin
In the last month someone decided, to flip the holes; front 9 becomes back 9. I have been playing this course since it opened, and have observed years of steady improvement. This is really one of the finest public courses North of Atlanta. But then someone decided to screw things up!
I am a senior, and usually only play 9 holes at a time. What use to be the front 9 is decidedly more forgiving than the back 9. Management has always been inflexible on letting the customer decide if they wanted to play the front or back; you played the front. When I was younger and played 18 holes it was a mute issue. However, now you have taken the joy out of playing at the Chimneys.
If I can only play the “new” back nine I won’t be playing there anymore.
Thank you for your feedback. The swap in 9's was a logistics call. The maintenance team is located on the former back side and is able to now perform their daily duties quickly in the mornings before driving all the way across property. It is making them much more efficient and keeping them out of the way of morning play. While the 9's have been reversed, there are certainly slower time periods to play where you can play the "old" front 9 that you seemed to enjoy more. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you will still play golf with us again soon.
Enjoyable round
Tee times are always on time.
Course is in very good condition.
Great course
Hidden gem . Course layout is beautiful. Tee boxes are level, fairways a in great shape, greens are in really good shape considering the summer we've had. Very enjoyable day and will be back.
This one needs some amenities for the price
The course has a good layout and it was in good shape but it is expensive for what I expect. There is a small but functional pro shop but no restaurant or bar. Limited outdoor seating and limited beverages. There was no restrooms on the course ( sorry ladies) and no starter on the first tee. Maybe that was because the front and back were swapped and the clerk in the pro shop failed to mention that to us. Lastly, it was cheaper to pay the standard rate compared to the golf now rate. I recommend checking before you pay.
1st time, fun course
Fun little course, short from the tips at just over 6300 I believe. Considering how much rain had been in the area the last few days, the course was in pretty good shape. Like most courses nowadays since the pandemic, tons of pitch marks on the greens. And I get that we pull carts and shut the course down if rain is eminent, but a retail minded person would let me spend another 12 bucks on two tokens just to watch me bash balls in the drizzle after my round. Instead I got a ‘range is closed for the day’ from the young buck behind the counter… while three other people were out there hitting balls…
Fun course (slow greens)
Enjoyed the round and the course exceeded expectations:
- cool/fun layout.
- short track
- greens sloooow
Best part, nobody there - I breezed through in 3 hours playing 2 balls per hole. I'll come back.
Pace of play
Had 2p tee time. Group ahead played 6 until splitting up on hole 4. Group knew nothing about etiquette. I finished 6:45pm. The group would not allow my group to pass. There is needs to be a Marshall evaluating pace if play
We're sorry to hear you had a pace of play issue. We would love the opportunity to speak to you more about this situation if you can please call the golf shop at your earliest convenience: 770-307-4900. Ask for Elizabeth. Thanks
Course
The course was in tremendous shape ! Hopefully will like the change in course layout changing the different nines…. Kinda used to the old way.
Wow, a muni really?
The course conditions from tee to green were tournament ready. The greens were a little beat up, but that's from lazy nonball mark repairs. What a gem if the players would repair ball markers. The course could host something great.
Spectacular!
First time playing this course… Absolutely love it. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, It poses challenges but also afford you the opportunity to score if you put the ball in the right place. Only wish I lived closer so I could play it more often.
Great local course!
Excellent course!!! Great staff interactions. My only issue was 90 degree’s with no ice machine.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the course. We received our new ice machine and will be installing that this week! We hope to see you again soon. Thanks!
Swapping the 9s
I've played Chimneys probably 100 times over the last 5-6 years. Always in good shape. Staff is friendly. One of my favorite courses.
However, switching the back and front nines is not a good idea. Completely disrupts the flow of the course and it's going to end up slowing down play. Previously, stopping at the club house during the turn was convenient. Now, you have to drive all the way around the clubhouse just to go to the restroom or get refreshments. Then turn back around to head to what is now the 10th tee. It just doesn't flow well. Also, when finishing on what was previously 18, it dumped you right into the parking lot. You could unload, take the cart back and be on your way. Now, it's just nowhere near as convenient.
I understand new management comes in and wants to put their stamp on the course. Do it with service and amenities. Not switching the 9s. This was a bad idea. It wasn't broken and did not need fixing. Put it back!!!
Thank you for your feedback. The swap in 9's is not necessarily for a stamp via new management but more a logistics call. The maintenance team is located on the former back side and is able to now perform their daily duties quickly on that side before driving all the way across property. It is making them much more efficient, and therefore helping to improve our overall expenditures (and the happiness of our awesome superintendent). We appreciate the concern though and once we have our new hole signs placed, we feel much of the confusion will end. We hope you will still play golf with us again soon despite and as stated previously, we appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Beautiful layout. Wonderful landscaping with large red rock formations around traps, tee boxes, and fairway bunkers. Tee boxes and fairways were in mint condition. Greens were in very good condition. Would rate them excellent except for overseeing/sanding. But as that must happen from time to time it is understandable. Staff was friendly and very competent. Overall an excellent round for the money. This was my first time at The Chimneys but won’t be my last.
Good challenge with a lot of forgiveness
Course was extremely well maintained, rivals that of a pro course. The course only really has 2-3 holes where forgiveness is very limited, otherwise, there is wide open space all around. The course is challenging for those trying to play their best game, and at 6800 yards at the tips, it’s pretty tough. Their holes have been swapped so hole 10 is hole 1 on the scores card. Took a minute to figure that out. The hills and overall course layout made this my favorite course of my trip. Highly recommend.
Must play
I’ve played at a lot of different courses and this is possibly the best one ever.
What a compliment! Thank you for playing with us!
Thank you for your feedback. Without a commercial kitchen, we're unable to attain a food service permit from the health department, even to offer a hotdog roller or a small grill station. We are working on a new partnership with a local food vendor. It is certainly a challenge, but one we are diligently working on solving. We have one functioning ice machine (small and runs out quickly) and the other one should be fixed this week (replacement parts ordered). We apologize for the inconvenience there.
We're glad you enjoy the course though and hope to see you again soon.
