Trophy Club is great!
My daughter and I played only 9, so I can't rate the back nine, but the front nine is a great course! Everything was in excellent condition and very well maintained. It's not that long from the white tees, but it is tight and plenty of challenge for most golfers. Will gladly play there again!
Great value
Great course. Great layout. Great staff. I came from the municipal course around the corner due to customer service issues. This course is approximately the same price but his head and shoulders above all other public courses in the area.
Good local coarse
I play this course because it is good value for the cost if you use golf now or a similar discount site. Tough layout because it is a neighborhood course. Often the slope of the fairways make it even tougher.
Course was nice but play was slow
Foursome went on a mid Saturday morning in July. Course was in good shape overall. Greens were not too fast. So we were generally pleased with the course. However play was backed up for the first 11-12 holes. Sometimes painfully long. At one hole we had three groups waiting. So more spacing is needed.

Way too slow on the front nine it was 3 hours. The starters push's players out the first t-box every 7-8 minutes which causes slow play. There is no marshals to help slower groups get moving. This is very frustrating. The back 9 was just a little over 2 hours I suspect people got upset and just left after 9 holes fearing a 6 hour round. It is never fun to spend money and wait on every shot.
The greens are slow but rolled true.
Course Is In Unplayable Condition
6 years ago, Trophy Club wasn't a terrible place to play at twilight rate of 20 bucks. Now, however, it is not worth the effort at any price.
They have, for some inexplicable reason, removed the stone yardage markers that used to be on the tee boxes, so yardage on par 3s is a complete guess. Want yardage in the fairway? Good luck finding a sprinkler.
But the biggest problem is the overall condition of the course. It's pathetic. Bare spots. Cracked cart paths. Bunkers with basically no sand. Splotchy aprons and rough around the green. Clay in the fairways. Ball marks all over the greens from the typical clientele that jams the course and plays impossibly slowly.
My dad and I stopped after a 2:36 minute twilight front 9. (teed off at 4:05) asked the clubhouse guy to do something about the 2 slow as molasses 3 somes in front of us, as we would shockingly fight daylight to finish. He said "you can play the front 9 again, but a 3some can't be that slow."
Stunned, I asked for raincheck since we likely wouldn't finish despite teeing off 4.5 hours before sunset. Was denied.
I'm done with this place. It's one thing to let your course deteriorate, it's another to have disregard for customers. I have about 20 pics I could post, but apparently can't attach to review...
Slow
Course was in great condition. We expected it to be busy because it was a holiday weekend, but... We had 3 groups of 3 in front of us and we had 3 people playing. 5 hours to play 18 holes. At one hole, we had 3 groups standing around waiting to play. This course advertises a 4:16 pace of play. Too slow for me, even on a regular day.
Poor Greens
I have played the course for years and this is the first time I can say I was completely disappointed. The greens were dead. I hope they grow back because I really enjoy this course!
Not Worth the Price
This golf course is in rough shape. The greens are bumpy and inconsistent. All the turf (tee boxes, fairways and rough) needs intensive attention. Please see the photo of the 12th tee box. There was evidence that the bunkers had been recently groomed, but the grooming was done poorly. Play management was none existent. There was no starter and a marshal that appeared once around the 15th hole. I clocked play of the 8th hole with a stop watch at 17.5 minutes a 5-hour, 15-minute pace. To be fair to the golfers, the 8th hole was set up to be a disaster. The 8th is an excessively penal hole. On this day, the blue tee was pushed all the way back with the gold tee and as far left as possible. The only practical tee shot from this location is a hard hook to hold the fairway. The Trophy Club of Apalachee is significantly over priced considering the conditioning and play management. Note: I rate golf courses on an absolute scale using the following guidelines:
5 stars - Top tier golf course, all amenities, outstanding service/management and excellent course maintenance.
4 stars - Good to great course layout, complete club experience (full practice facilities, locker room, grill, etc...), efficient service/management, very good course maintenance.
3 stars - Good course layout, average practice facilities, average service/management, average course maintenance. No pace of play problems.
2 stars - Nothing special, but an enjoyable course to play. Only minor issues with pace of play.
1 star - Not worth the effort or serious pace of play issues. I take pace of play very seriously.
A 5-hour round is a minimum two-star reduction.
Course comments
Greens hard and bumpy
Putting was unpredictable
Better golf elsewhere for same price
Drove a long way and was somewhat dissapointed with the course conditions
Fast greens
Greens were in great shape! Extremely fast greens, like you were rolling on concrete. Rest of the course was dormant.
The Course Marshall
One of the course Marshall, harassed us for no reason the only thing we could conclude was because the color of our skin, we asked other golfer of a different color and they had no issues, the guy name was Bud I think, probably won't be going back there if he's working.
Trophy club at Appalachia farms
The course was in decent condition considering the drought. It is a hard course and very slanted. The greens pitch and you have to be able to read them or it's gonna be a long day. Time of play was very good and Staff very friendly .
They booked too many people for the time to play.
There were too many people out there and not enough time to play. They were more interested in taking your money than you enjoying the course.
Good value but slow rounds
I have played here twice now and will be back as the course is a good value when using Last Minute Tee Times or GolfNow. It starts with a par 5, then a short (possibly driveable depending on tees played and ability) par 4, and the a long-ish par 3. This leads to groups playing slowly and bunching up on the tees. On the par 3 groups should allow the next group to hit their tee shots before putting. This will keep play moving. The course was pretty dry, although the greens were in good shape. There is variation in elevation and some holes going left while others right. All in all, it's a good track is you don't mind a slow round. Yesterday it took five and a half hours to play 18.
Yes, Again Course is nice
Well worth the money and drive. This course is in great shape, the greens are good, not the fastest but very smooth. Challenging, outlay with several tough doglegs, back nine was much harder than the front. Would love to play this course again. By the way the club house attendant was excellent, great attitude and very accommodating. Did not have time to attend the bar/restaurant in the clubhouse, but members of my group where happy with the food at the turn.
You mention photos of a tee box. Where are they, and how do you post pics on here? I'm trying to post for both tc and royal lakes
