Disappointed

Starting on the range, tee area was equivalent to a thinning area of a poorly maintained home lawn.

Practice green/chipping area was fine.

No starter on the course to set off groups. Had multiple singles start randomly before my group that weren’t on the start sheet. Course is peaceful and scenic with creeks everywhere. This was my first time navigating the course, could use signs to let players know which path to take and which hole you’re standing on the tee box to.. Several of the greens had multiple large areas cut out with just sand in them. Lots of replaced sod hexagons. Plenty of tee boxes were being re-sodded and not in use while several tee boxes were mostly dirt. Had a group walk up to the back nine to start playing right in front of me. Coming down to the 18th it was about dinner time and received some heckling from a gentleman on the patio. Not impressed with this club at all.

Love this course

I absolutely love this course. Accuracy is at a premium here as trees and houses line the fairways. Conditions are always great and some of the best in the area. Staff are wonderful and the amenities are terrific. I will never tire of playing this course each week.

Tough but Fair, and Rewarding

I played country club of the south, it is a fun hard course you need to be fairly accurate, and have distance control. The staff is absolutely amazing, probably the friendliest in the industry. Also great amenities, and wonderful food.

Country Club of the South

Country Club of the South is a private, ClubCorp owned, country club in the Northern Atlanta suburb of John's Creek. I've played a lot of ClubCorp courses, and this would rank in my top 3. The course sits on a beautiful piece of land in an affluent neighborhood of Atlanta. As the course meanders through a neighborhood, every hole is framed by houses and/or woods so wayward drives can be lost. Each hole is unique, challenging, but score-able. The conditions were good for a ClubCorp, albeit not as nice as ClubCorp's other gem, Firestone. The staff was all friendly and accommodating and the facilities were beautiful. Overall, would highly recommend.

Very Nice

Country Club of the South may be the best Club Corp facility in the Atlanta area. It is certainly well above their other metro north clubs. Everything is as it should be for a top flight private golf club. Club Corp scrimps on grounds maintenance and this is also true at Country Club of the South. The course and grounds are maintained slightly below the other top-flight clubs in Atlanta. This is most evident off the fairways and outside of the golf course. There was also a car break-in the day that I played.

The bear does it again at Country club of the south

Wow, Country club of the south is probably one of the best private clubs around. From the time we walked in the clubhouse I knew it was going to be a great day. Unlimited Titilest practice balls yessir! The course was in fabulous shape and designed great by Jack Nickalus. The carts were really nice and the course was even better the bunkers were pure white sand and the greens rolled the best I have ever seen. If you ever get a chance to play Country Club of the south then do it I promise you won't regret it.

Beautiful golf course in a good neighborhood!

CC of the South was built by Jack Nickalus and was supposedly going to be the cream of the crop for private country clubs. It held a few Champions Tour events back in the 90s I think but the club struggled for a while until Clubcorp bought it out a number of years ago and let me say, while I'm not a member, I've been fortunate to play it several times over the past few years and this is the best I've seen this course! The greens were absolutely the best around, super fast and true, the fairways and the rough were well manicured and most of the tee boxes were smooth, level and very green. With all of that said, the course is very challenging, lots of out of bounds due to the surrounding houses and wooded areas. There isn't a lot of room for error around this course. But the course can be really fun with its elevation changes, large hills that can help (or hurt) certain balls in the fairways and the variety of holes. Definitely a great club in a high end area of metro Atlanta.
