Extra fees at check in
At pro shop check in, 10mins prior to our tee time, we were informed that the green fees were $10/per player higher than booked on GolfNow. Why? We were told it was a holiday weekend rate. He also added a $10 cart fee for a single rider, as we were a threesome. I asked for a receipt and he told me it was too late. Said I needed to ask before he rang it up.
Maybe he was trying to make up for refunding half green fees to the kids checking in before us. They were an hour late for their tee time and it was too busy to fit them in.
We played the same course 2 days prior to this and had a 5 star+ experience with a different pro shop staff member.
Terrible experience
We arrived for our 8:00 am prepaid round and the corse was closed and would not be open until noon. There were several other people waiting also. There should be better communication between the course and Golf Now to prevent these occurrences! I contacted the corse later about a refund and was told they would handle it and they did not! I had to dispute the charge on my credit card to get the 116.00 dollars back!
Great course and great staff
Have played here several times and it keeps getting better every time I play. Awesome course. Pin placements were a little challenging but we managed pretty well. Overall we enjoyed our round.
I was looking for a place to get my golf fix in between shifts. I found this course on golf now and was not disappointed. Managed to get a solo tee time on a Saturday morning and went right out. I noticed that the nines on the card layout and GHIN were reversed. That is, I teed off on 1, but on GHİN, it was number 10. Not a biggie. Course is well lined with trees but fairways are pretty generous. Tee boxes were in decent shape. Greens are fairly small and were pretty shaggy for my round in June.
Clubhouse does have a lounge and a bar if you want to play 19, but nobody was on duty there on a Saturday. I thought that a bit odd, but again not the end of the world.
All in all, it's a fun course with some 90 degree dogleg holes. It didn't feel like 6500 yards from the back tees because of that. It's worth your time if the area and I suspect I'll swing back there when in the area.
Great course
I've played Blueberry Plantation several times in the past few months, the new owners have really improved the course significantly.
Fun, challenging course
We really enjoyed our round here. The only real issues we had were that there were tons of pinecones all over the course which made it tougher than it should have been. Also, in many places, there is no cart path at all which can make finding the next hole a little confusing without the course map.
Getting better, but......
Played this course last May (2022)... was okay at best... talked with the new greenskeeper who assured that a complete improvement was coming... well... not so much... the tee boxes were complete CRAP- not just a few, but ALL of them!!!! the greens were fair with about half a dozen having disease and 'trenches' dug through.. the layout is great and the course has so much potential, but they truly need to put some money, time, effort into making it such
Too much water
The course was great just a little to much water on some of the greens.
The teeboxes on this course are the some of the worst I have ever seen, but not nearly as bad as the greens. The greens were very inconsistent and would not roll correctly. The price to play is 35-45$ to play which is an insane amount for the quality of this golf course. Oh I almost forgot to mention the dead fish in the middle of the first holes fairway!
Love this place
Its not as crowded which I absolutely love. More amateur friendly. Greens are good and fairways are great. No complaints
Getting really nice in Alma
I took a group of 12 over to play this past Sunday. The course is 200% better than this time last year.
Fairways were the best at 85...really good coverage, but lots of divots need filling.
Greens were at 70...2 weeks since aerification, needs a top dressing, then these greens will be perfect.
Bunkers were at 75...Weekend mornings should see all bunkers rake and greens mowed first thing.
Rough was at 50... some was ankle deep and others were shin high.
With all the attention on the greens, I can see where the rough and bunkers aren't getting a lot of attention.
Clubhouse has a nice 19th hole bar with very comfortable seating to sit down and pay off your betting debts once the round is down.
Staff was very friendly.
Good selection of snacks, drinks and hot dogs, etc.
I'll be playing the course again soon. Always enjoying playing a course where you get to see improvements every time you visit.
The Blueberry Inn is on property for a stay & play.
The dining is reportedly "OFF THE HOOK" good eating.
Still got to plan a visit with the wife.
You can order fancy lunch for your group from the Inn on certain days of the week...check with the pro shop.
Great Improvement
First time at the course in over a year. Great improvement to the greens and fairways. Still a few damp spots, but the course is really looking nice. The greens were recently aerifieded and the new growth has almost filled in the holes.
Looking forward to playing again soon.
Overpriced
The course was in rough shape for the price, the cart paths were like going off roading in a big truck. Asked about a membership and the total cost was around 1000$ they still want you to pay when you walk with a membership. I understand a cart fee but not to walk that’s ridiculous, the facility is old and not updated. Your not allowed to bring your own cooler or anything either. You can go thirty minutes down the road and at the brazell course for less money and have better conditions.
The member ship is 0nly 600.00 a year and it only cost 20$ to walk it or use a cart for a member to play unlimited golf as long as T times are available and the greens all but hole # 11 is which is in progress in better than average shape. after all we are just getting over winter weather. and when the springtime weather gets here, and the Bermuda grass starts to grow. the greens and fairways are going to beautiful. i know they struggled to get a good greens Supervisor for a while.. and they hired a great Guy about 6 months ago and he has made huge improvements overall to the course ..
