Conveniently located less than a half hour southeast of Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is one of northeast Florida's premier golfing destinations. The club was the first to introduce golf to the region in 1928 with its Ocean Course. The second course, Lagoon, was added in 1961. The Ocean Course is the longer of the two by over 700 yards. Built during a time when earth-moving equipment wasn't available, 100 mules were employed to shape the contours, dredge the lagoons, and build the earthen mounds of the Ocean Course. Although it has a traditional layout, indicative of when it was built, the course has a challenging character that has withstood the test of time. There are 99 bunkers strategically placed throughout the golf course as well as elevated greens that demand accuracy.
