Ponte Vedra Inn & Golf Club has been one of northeastern Florida's premier golfing destinations since it first introduced golf to the area with its Ocean Course in 1928. In 1961, Robert Trent Jones added the first nine of the second course, the Lagoon Course, and Joe Lee completed the back nine in 1977. Bobby Weed redesigned the entire Lagoon course in 2007, which included new fairways, tees, and greens as well as routing changes on several holes. At just over 6,000 yards it is nowhere near as long as the 6,800-plus-yard Ocean Course but it provides a different set of challenges and scenery. As the name would imply, water is a prominent feature of the course, coming into play on 11 holes. There are also tall pines and mature oaks lining the narrow fairways and framing the small greens.
