Eglin Golf Course in Niceville, Fla. has been ranked third among all of the Air Force courses and it's known locally as one of the best values in the Destin area. Eglin originally opened in 1923 and was known as the Chicago Country Club. It has a notorious past as the home of the mafia during Al Capone's heyday, before the Army took it over in 1942. There are two courses available, the Falcon and Eagle. The Falcon was built in 1960 and is considered by far the more challenging of the two courses. Unlike many traditional Florida golf courses, there are a numerous and varied elevation changes on this surprisingly hilly course. Accurate long-game skills will come in handy but you'll also need careful strategy on each hole.
