The Country Club of Miami is known for the big names it has hosted over the years, both celebrities and professional golfers. When it opened in 1961, Arnold Palmer was the first golf pro and the West Course is where Jack Nicklaus played his first professional tournament. Jackie Gleason is the club's most famous member and he would often host his famous friends including Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. The West Course is the original layout, it was later joined by the East Course in 1990. Although the East Course is over 600 yards shorter than the West Course, it still offers a challenge. Like the West Course, it has water coming into play frequently as well as strategically placed bunkers throughout. Accurate shot placement is key and good course management will be well rewarded.
