Doral Golf Resort & Spa in west Miami is home to five championship courses, making it one of south Florida's most popular golfing destinations. The Great White is one of the most well known of the five and it is also the newest. When it opened in 2000, it was hailed as the year's best new golf course. This Greg Norman-design has a desert style that is unique to Florida golf courses. The trademark of the course, another feature that makes it unique from other courses in the state, is its use of coquina-crushed shells. They serve as the primary design element of every hole. They fill the bunkers that frame the small, target greens. The pristine white of the shells contrasts beautifully with the lush green.
