fun fast and challenging
Ample fairways allow long tee shots- large greens and your shooting for birdies- if your in the area and would like a quick round with ample challenge that won't break the bank try it you'll like it.
Good Value
My wife and I play off 18 & 14 respectively, but she is a bandit. We found the course in good condition considering the rain of late. Great to see the Eagles, feathered variety, are back on the 16th. Will definitely play again whilst we are here and recommend you give it a try.
Great Practice Course
Grounds crew does a good job keeping the course playable. I play here a lot and always find that the greens are inconsistent. Some are fast and some are slow. It's a great place to go and work on your game. Some challenging holes throughout the course. This course will not blow you away. I have one complaint: My group was the last one out on 11/22 and we were asked to pick up all of the pins as we played the back nine. We had to carry the flag sticks in our carts as we finished our round. This has happened to me TWICE at this course. I feel like I paid to do the groundskeepers job. Not happy about that. That's unacceptable.
Great round
The weather was breezy but caused no real problems. The greens were a little slow as I think they've been seeded.
The biggest bonus was no one behind us & no one in front ! So no hold ups just a great round of golf !
OK tee to green
The course is OK. They try hard to keep it in the best shape possible. The greens have never been good and are very slow at their best but, play fair.
East Bay
Course as in good condition. Most holes bring their won challenges. Play moved at a good pace.
A good course to play
I found the course in fair condition but this course was in better condition then some of the others I played.
Good place to play
I was pleased with the course conditions, overall. Green speed was good. We played with a blustery wind with water in play on several holes.
confusing with shaggy greens
Most courses have enough trees or other markers to indicate the fairway off the tee. Not always the case at East Bay. You can easily hit to the wrong fairway or hit to the wrong side of the fairway on a dogleg, of which there are too many, and be completely blocked to the green. Water comes into play but it's not always easy to tell where and how far. The course has to be played several times just to know where to hit the ball. As to conditions, the greens were shaggy and bumpy for the entire round. Because the grass was so grainy and players dragged their feet, it was mess trying to putt. Fairways were shaggy as well as wet = fat shots. Tees were also shaggy. Bermuda is very slippery to begin with; when it's high you can easily lose your footing and hit it in strange places because you lost your balance. There's one hole, #10, that is just plain silly. From the back tees your view is partially obstructed by high reeds and there are also overhanging tree branches staring you in the face. You have a ridiculously small window thru which you're supposed to hit a hook. Sorry to be sounding so negative but this course can be a bear the first time. They have to do something about mowing those greens. Am I going back? Not on a weekend. I like to play a lot faster. But the Golf Now price certainly was right.
Slow Greens
Arrived and greeted by very friendly staff. Course layout is very nice, a lot of dogleg left's on this course. Fairway was nice and even the times I was in the rough it wasn't bad. Rough was spongy and you could get the club on the ball without difficulty. Besides shooting a good round, the best part of the day was seeing an American Bald Eagle flying low and straight at us overhead. Their nest is near 16th green and is very cool to see.
Okay for the negative parts and there were only a few. Playing in Fla on a hot summer day I counted only 2 or 3 water coolers on the entire course. Please Please Please put water out there. It was hot and humid, our tee time was 8ish and yes the cart girl came around but you still need to hydrate more than one or two times a round. The only other negative was the greens, it felt like I was putting on shag carpet. All the greens were long and slow. I hit my putts and came up short on almost every single one. At other courses my ball would have flew off the green into the rough, that's how hard I was hitting my putts.
Overall it was a fun time and yes I will be back, enjoyed the round with the slow greens.
Nice challenging course
This is the first time I have played this course and it was a great experience. It very challenging, especially for golfers who tend to slice a lot, but it is also fair too.
We played in the heat of the summer so there wasn't many others playing the same day, especially in the afternoon, and the cost to play was a bargain.
The course is obviously well cared for and the greens were fine. All in all, a great experience.
best I have ever seen it
If you haven't played here in awhile, you should give it another try. Fairways, greens, and rough in great shape. Tee boxes so so,but minor issue.
totally enjoyable experience
Hadn't played East bat in a few years, but it was great to be back. Our twosome was 10 minutes late due an extra long Dr. appointment, however we accommodated very nicely by the gentleman in the pro shop. Each cart has an oversized GPS screen mounted in it with no buttons to push, even to boot it up. Very nice. The tees, and fairways were lush and thick. The greens ,overall, were fair. Maybe they were planning on mowing soon but they were long and slow. A few were patchy but it appeared that management was aware and had patched them accordingly. we'll be back soon.
good day at eastbay
had a great time. played with a beginner, but the course was easy on her.. the course was in good condition and there were groundkeepers making it better. probably gets more golfers out there when the weather gets cooler but i perfer the heat
East bay review
Course is very well maintained and is a great course to play regardless of your handicap level.
This course is in good condition
The golf course is in good condition. The greens are a bit slower than what I am used to.
not bad for the price.
I went as my firt time to this course I always been around it but never try it because is a public course and it always going to be packed. Let me tell you it wasn't bad at all the pace was all right and for the price gou can't beat that. Green were fine faiways were a little messed up but they were working with them. I would definitely come back for another round at that price.
Very good golf course
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and facilities. I played it with my 13 year old son and wod definitely come back again.
Things are looking up!
After reading many of the reviews I figured for the HOT Deal price I would find out for myself..... I played here a couple years ago so I have been wanting to go back.. Well the GREENS are in better shape then many others in the area and you can see the improvemnts! They have clearly worked very hard to get them back and once it's 100% they will be great. I played inssbrook copperhead course a couple weeks ago and I thought EAST BAY greens were in better shape at this point of the summer. This is a great track and for the summer prices a great deal.... Just load up on water as it's a hot one but was fun to play!
This course offers great challenges for all levels
We have played this course several times and found it to be challenging. The fairways and greens are in great conditions. The staff is great and extremely helpful I getting everyone started on time. I recommend this course for anyone looking forward to a great time, with a great staff.
Confused....next time for your enjoyment utilize the info provided by the GPS unit on cart that has complete hole graphics and pro tips. Also course layout on the back of the scorecard and of course the granite tee signs on each tee. The course layout is very traditional and multiple dog legs provide challenge as you pointed out. As for shaggy conditions after 17 inches of rain since the third week of Sept, no doubt it has been difficult for the maint crew............many area courses were completely closed multiple days due to the extreme flooded conditions. Good news is cooler, dryer weather has arrived!
Confused.....please use the course information next time for a more enjoyable round. GPS unit on cart with complete hole graphics as well as layout on score card and granite tee signs on each tee. The course is a traditional layout with several dog legs and yes it's challenging. As for shaggy conditions, with 17 in rain in Sept and early Oct most clubs experienced many days where conditions were too wet to even open. Thank goodness we are entering our cool dry season!
