Fountains West
Greens are fast and tricky. Teeboxes could use more grass. Staff is very nice. West Course goes all over the place, but directional signs are pretty good.
Faded gem, but west course still very good.
Interesting and challenging course with water or stragic challenges on every hole. No amenities except for range and cart attendant who passes by infrequently. Course itself well laid out as it winds through a substantial but very old development which appears at times to be a ghost town. South course now gone to development and most of the facilities are deserted. N.B. Your GPS will take you to an inattended residents-only entrance with a gate you cannot access. Nevertheless, would play again.
Fountains with an Ace
We played the West course, its a good lay out and conditioning was better than fair. The third hole fly over the tree on left, for a better landing area, 6th hole do the math and give yourself the stock wedge yardage approach shot, water is close from the tee. 13 play it the same as the player they but with us, jar the tee shot for an Ace. It suddenly became a really fun day. Steph was the man. 18 is a good quality par 4. Pay attention to the tee shot and set up where you want to play your approach shot from. We finished are round at 4:30 and there was no place to have a drink and celebrate the Ace. Thus the low rating.
I loved the greens
For the most part, this is your average, lots of doglegs and water course. However, the texture and speed of the greens more than made up for it. The speed was challenging but fair. Avoid being above the hole when possible. Your shot into the green was probably the most important. I am a 73 year old, 7 handicap golfer. I would play it again.
Just don’t play here.
Layout is bizarre. 300 yard drives in between holes.
Quit after 13 holes, was going to be a five hour round.
We were told there would be a food/ beverage cart out there. Never saw her. Called pro shop 2x from course, straight to VM.
Meah. Just an alright.!
The course itself was ok. Nothing bad to particularly say.
Getting lost for 15 minutes trying to find the next tee box was frustrating. Seriously if they don't want large signs in the neighborhood. I get it. Then paint something on the sidewalks. Also no GPS in the carts. Nice fans though.
I play a lot of golf and there are certainly far worse courses
I paid more than my friends! Why? I'll
Never know.
Would I play there again? Yes. Hopefully not the WEST course. In a real rating out of a 10.00 it gets a 6.524. Not bad. But not exceptional
Fountains West
Fairways in very good shape for in-season South Florida; greens had a lot of sand on them but still rolled true. Bunkers had good quality sand. Holes are spread out all over the place and signage could be better. Round took 4 1/2 hours on a Thursday afternoon. Pro shop and starter both asked to see Golfnow confirmation but were very pleasant about it. Carts were very comfortable. Courses in quality condition cost a lot in South Florida in season.
Nice course
Nice course, back Nine is much better than front Nine. Played using Golfnow Hot tee time and paid $90. The normal rate that they quoted me at the course was $85.
Not a great experience
We had a slow group in front of us which didn’t bother us at all but the group behind us was up our tail and super rude. I’m not going to hit into the group in front of us but clearly what’s what the group behind us wanted us to do which was really unnecessary. It wasn’t that slow and this just really soured our round. Complain to a marshal or call into the clubhouse but don’t ruin our round.
Average course, above average price
This course recently started allowing the public to play. Although the restaurant and other clubhouse amenities are very nice, the course is average at best. The conditions were average. The pace of play was slow, and the price charged is well above what a comparable course would charge. Overall, overrated, and not good value for money.
