Schakamar Creek
My wife and I enjoyed our time on the course. It was in good shape, busy but moved slong in good time..
I will be back.
easter sunday at Schalamar golf club
My wife and I golfed at Schalamar this pass sunday. First of all, I am a fan of Ron Garl, the golf architect and his work.. I would think that he is not very happy with what happened to his golf club and the very poor condition that it is in. The greens are just about gone due to poor maintenance and diseased condition. The tee boxes and fairways were in very rough condition. The staff and the clubhouse were excellent as well as the 3 hour play conditions. The front 9 was in the wooded area while the back 9 was through the trailer park homes and very narrow and tight.
Enjoyed the course!
The course was well later out, challenging and staff were very nice. Only complaint is the tee blocks on the front nine. They were in rough shape. The rest rest were good.
Always a great place to play.
Have played here many times. Always fun but ever a challenge.
Improved
The course is recovering nicely from all the rain, mostly thanks to the cart path only rule being enforced. This makes play a little slower but the course is getting better as a result.
Schalamar Creek
I would probable not come back and play, but was for sure not disappointed I did. I enjoyed the golf part of the round even though it had not rained for a couple days and was nice and sunny/warm everything on the front 9 was very wet. The trees are obviously very old and keep the dew in as well as block alot of sun from getting to the grass so it is not very good in rough areas which is a challenge. But the back 9 is much more open and enjoyable to play as well as better grass conditions on the whole. They did not have a beverage cart out when I played, nor did they mention that when checking in or at least have a sign. Pace was ok, front 9 slower due to conditions, but we were right around 4 hours which is find in my mind.
Nice Course
Golf play was cart path only as it rained the night before. Was a bit slow because of ths. Overall course layout is nice and requires some precision shots off the tee. Tee blocks, fairway and greens were average but great price to play this course.. Staff are very friendly and beer is the lowest price I have paid so far here in Florida. I would come back and play this course again.
Pace of Play No Marshall
Showed up for our 11 am tee time at 10:50 on the first tee and was informed that they are letting a group of twenty players 5 foursomes to go in front of us. And did see all the players grouped together to start and when they all teed off it was 11:35. From there we waited every hole to tee off and to hit on the green. At least average 10 minutes per hole delayed. No Marshall to ask them to speed up. It took 4:45 mi utes to complete what should have been 3:30 minutes on that short of a golf course.
Schalamar has some very interesting holes. Back nine is tougher than the front. Only knock is that the restaurant was closed so unable to get a drink afterward.
