Formerly a private club, Hillcrest Golf Club underwent a major renovation in 1999 when it opened for public play. The classic features of Hillcrest's Championship Course were preserved, but several changes were implemented to make the course more challenging, including the addition of new mounding, sand traps, and lakes. The course's green complexes and tee boxes also saw major improvements. While some south Florida courses suffer from the heavy summer rains, the excellent drainage system keeps the course in peak condition year round. The layout finishes with its signature hole, a tricky par-4 featuring an island green surrounded by a bulkhead. There is also a targeted grass range and practice green for golfers to use. Hillcrest Golf Club offers some of the most affordable golf in the area and it is conveniently situated between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
