Better shape than last week!!
Enjoyable experience two times in a row. Will be returning for more in the near future.
Always Enjoyable!
It’s been awhile since we last played at The Oaks. Greens are much improved and a great value for the money. The 19th hole provides friendly and attentive service with a great selection of food and beverage. Venue is dated and rustic but provides one with an overall enjoyable experience!
Greens and aprons around greens were excellent. Tee boxes were ok. The fairways definitely need work , need to build a good base of grass and then overseed when needed. The course seems to be getting a lot of play so maybe condition of fairways will improve. Would recommend for a fun round or practice round. Can't see anyone paying the rack rate of $35, I got a hot deal for $22. Course is worth that price. Staff is super friendly and the food is very good. The clubhouse needs renovation and men's bathroom really needs repair. Would recommend if you get a good price to play. Also the course has a fairly new fleet of carts.
It is what the reviews say it is...
I get down here 6-8 times a year and it's always fun. I went back and read reviews here for the last 2 years and I think I agree with almost all of them. Yes, the clubhouse is old, the men's bathroom is beyond description; yes, the course is interesting and the greens can be hairy, yes, the people there are beyond nice...they are incomparable. It's all in what you expect and what you want. The guy in a 2020 review who said something like, "...if you just want to slap the ball around and have fun, then this is a good place" was dead right. Isn't that what golf is?
If you're expecting World Golf Village conditions, then you should go there (and spend $160- for your round and a chilled apple), if you want to slap the ball around, have a couple of beers and not worry much about what you scored (or paid), head on down to The Oaks. No, it isn't great but it's well worth the ride, IMO.
Play anywhere else
Worst course in the area. The greens are like shag carpets. The fairways are just weeds and the rough is even worse. More like a goat farm than a golf course. They should be charging $5 to play this course then it might be worth it. The food is good but they are overpriced. Play Palatka or Grand Reserve in Bunnell instead, same price and 1000 times better.
Awesomeness
This course is very nice.
The staff is great and FOOD IS PHENOMENAL
I DID NOT EVEN NEED TO BE A MEMBER AND THEY WELCOMED ME AS IF I WAS!
Wow
How could anyone write a good review. First time I've ever went to a golf course and had to leave because of the conditions. Worst course ever if you can call it a course. And they would not give us our money back I've played $10 courses before that have been in better shape, definitely not worth $35 or the hour that I spent to drive there
Worst course I've ever played I would recommend no one travel a mile to go play on this course greens were not cut and horrible craters the fairways were not cut they were three to four inches high losing balls in the middle of the fairway the fairways were gigantically tall there was mud everywhere but there was no grass on most of the tea boxes and half the fairways for nothing but mud I recommend no one play this course if you can call it a course
Golf Course?
Thought I’d try this course even though it was an hour away, after reading several of the reviews. What a mistake - Save your time and money. I’m not sure this course even qualifies as a golf course.
I played from the blue tees (none of which had any grass), completely loose dirt fill. All but three of the so-called fairways were extremely wet and haven’t seen a lawn mower in months, probably bacause there so wet. All fairways are 85% clover. No carts parts, No yardage indicators, and not many directional signage from hole to hole. Easy to lose your way around this cow pasture if you’ve never played it before. All (18) greens had about 70% grass, the rest was dead or dirt.
Bring plenty of balls - Even if you can hit it 285 straight down the middle. A perfect drive or iron shot just plugs and disappears in the 8” tall weeded fairways soaked in water & mud. Pace of plays slows tremendously when all of the golfers are walking for 10 minutes in the same 30 square foot area attempting to find their ball.
Several fairways on the back nine didn’t have any grass whatsoever (none), just dirt, mud and lots of water. They should consider turning this course into a mud bogging course or mud sports track.
On a positive note, the diner / restaurant inside the Pro Shop must be pretty good - There were more patrons coming in to eat there than play golf.
Save your time & Money - Play another course.
