Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
About
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club offers two championship courses, the North and the South. Both courses sprawl across a verdant landscape covered with mature oaks, lakes, and ponds. The terrain is unusually hilly for Florida. Like the South Course, the North Course is undulating with a lot of movement but it has even greater elevation changes than the South, which provides scenic views of the surrounding community. On a clear day, golfers can see at least five miles to the northeast from the second tee. The North has a more modern layout that plays a little bit longer. Although the golf courses are nestled amongst rolling hills, Lake Jovita is situated just 30 minutes north of Tampa. The unique hilliness of the courses and their convenient location have made them some of Florida's must-play courses.

Great layout and in very good shape
Excellent layout and in great shape. Pace of play was outstanding as well, played on a Sunday at noon and not crowded, very unexpected treat.
SLOW, SLOW, SLOW!!
Second slowest round of golf in my life. 5 hours 10 minutes. Would have been even longer if the group ahead of us hadn't quit the last two holes Had to wait EVERY tee and fairway shot. Clubhouse attendant didn't care at all. Only response was "Well it was only 55 minutes longer than normal".
Have played many times before never again.
Super Slow Play
This is the fourth time I've golfed this course - but never again. Our round took 5 hours and 10 minutes. It would have been an even longer but the slow people in front of us quit after the 16th hole. I asked the golf pro there why there wasn't a course ranger moving the course of play along, but he said there wasn't a course ranger. We waited on every shot once we hit the backlog after the first hole. It was ridiculous. All the years I've golfed (45+) this was the second slowest round of golf I've ever played. When it happened the first time,, the golf pro there offered us a free round of golf for our troubles. I asked the golf pro at Lake Jovita if he would do the same, and he said "that isn't going to happen." He offered nothing else either. The slow pace of play took a lot of the fun out of the round. This is too bad because the golf course itself is great, but waiting on every shot makes it a course to avoid.
Jovita
Nice course as always. Took a friend who played it for the first time and he was very impressed. Got a deal on golf now otherwise it has become awfully expensive to play this year. Greens were terrific and glad to see traps were resurrected on 16
We love this course but today.......
Normally a great experience but on the day we played there were several 5somes. The group of 5 in front of us was slow and made the round less enjoyable.
I cant say as to if the course allowed this or if they grouped up after tee off but there was no ranger to break it up.
Great couse
As always the course is absolutely amazing, as always. It is always in great condition tee to green.
My only small complaint is when playing the
North course you "turn" in middle of no where. Teeing off at 1220, planed on grabbing something to eat halfway. The cart employee had nothing to eat , Lie a hot dog /sandwich something like that.
Innisbrook for example the cart staff has food to purchase from her . Maybe send her with some food ?
Great course. Fast greens with lots of movement
Course was wet but still good. Always enjoy playing here teams up with other players and enjoyed their company. Good fun day! (Other than the 3 putts)
Near Perfect Condotions.
Our first trip around the north course. Condition was near perfect. Greens recently punched but they were still fast and true. Some very challenging reads. We will be back!
Nice layout, needs some love
Love the layout …. But …. The bunkers were a mess. A few holes they were well beyond just being washed out; they had weeds in them. The greens were B+ — some damage from sand hill cranes. Some bare spots in the fairways B- . Tees were more bare spots yet (C+).
Great to play, even in the heat
Great course, challenging. Generous open fairways. Watch out for large bunkers. Greens were fast and a bit tricky to read. We'd play again, soon.
Nice Course, not worth the rate
This was my first time playing at Lake Jovita and may be my last. I love the course layout. Everything is right in front of you and the gps in the carts is spot on. The tees were OK and the greens ran true even though they are 4-7 days from fully recovering from aeration.
However, the fairways were spotty. Compared to other courses that I have played recently in the same area, the conditions at Lake Jovita was sub standard. In addition the other course were about $30 less expensive to play at this time of year. I did not find the course worth the green fees.
On a side note, My playing partner and I arrived at different times and payed separately. I arrived first and was charged full rate. My partner arrived later and was issued a credit of $20 for future play due to aeration recovery. I found the lack of consistency unusual.
