River Strand Golf & Country Club is situated in a peaceful luxury residential community. The centerpiece of the community is the 27-hole course designed by Arthur Hills. The layout is comprised of three different nines that can be played individually or in different 18-hole combinations. The names of the three nines: Estuary, Tributary, and Sanctuary, reference the pristine landscape that Hills had to work with. He carefully avoided the many beautiful live oaks while also incorporating the tributaries and estuaries of the Manatee River. River Strand's Estuary nine, as its name implies, has water coming into play on almost every hole. In fact, the largest of all the ponds on the golf course comes into play on Estuary's final hole. The 150-foot fairway bottlenecks beyond the landing area between a large cross bunker and the pond. It's a tough hole but play it smart and a birdie is definitely possible.
