The par-4 third hole poses some threats: a stream that crosses the fairway and a pond that is not all that partial to hooked shots. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022
-
Seven requires a straight drive to the dogleg’s corner, followed by a pitch to this well contoured green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022
-
The tenth green will definitely challenge even the best putters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022

A classic par-4 of 385, the fourteenth ends on this two-tiered green (the approach plays over the pond). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022
-
Fifteen is a great short par-4: drive to a tightly guarded landing zone; pitch over the pond to the putting surface. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022
-
Sixteen, stretching to 424 and playing to an elevated green, is a very demanding par. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2022

Putting was tricky in the snow. Here you can see the line my ball took when I missed a 15 footer for birdie at two. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/28/2021
-
Fortunately, the snow abated and the course ‘dried out’ a tad by the back nine. This is the thirteenth fairway and green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/28/2021

A pond guards the approach to the fifteenth green; it will catch an errant shot at this par-4 of 385. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/28/2021

The seventeenth, a beautiful par-5, plays 531 from the blues. It’s open in front, making this a possible two-shotter. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/28/2021

During the summer, as this photo shows, Tunxis Green lives up to its name--abundantly. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/28/2021

Not the Green’s longest or toughest par-4, the 4th (378 yards) still demands two good shots to reach its elevated green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020

The huge mounds at seven create an amphitheater effect; the green surface itself is a tricky one. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020

Stray too far from eleven’s fairway and you may find yourself on the mounds—or not find your ball in the water. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020

Another view of the eleventh fairway and pond, as well as the uneven terrain in the rough. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020

14 is a classic, dogleg-right four par of 385. It leads to this raised, well-bunkered, two-tiered green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020
-
Sixteen, a 424-yard four-par, requires both length off the tee and precision into this green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/12/2020
-
At the third: pondering the break of the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020

The fourth features a raised green, a pot bunker, and trouble awaiting over-hit approaches. At least it’s beautiful. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020
-
View from the front of the tee at five, a superb 205 yarder with links-style contouring at the green complex. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020
-
Five, again: One of my favorite par-3’s in Connecticut. The contours seem like something out of North Berwick in East Lothian, Scotland. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020
-
Seven: One of a slew of strong holes here. A big pair of grass bunkers (along with a sand bunker—unseen from this view) guards the putting surface. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020
-
Eighteen: For those who like challenging 3-pars, Tunxis offers four, including this bunker-flanked finisher. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/03/2020
Good value but so much missing
Course was in good shape but very wet from all the rain we've gotten. Rough was difficult as it was soft, wet and thick. Greens varied in speed from hole to hole - no consistency.. Very few yardage markers made it a guess on many shots on what the distance was. Flat course but narrow on many holes means accuracy matters. Very disappointed that the snack bar was closed when we went by it, Only a couple of drinking fountains available on course - considering it was over 90, I went through all my drinking water and Gatorade and then no drink cart. And still no ball washers available. On the positive side - the hot dogs in the bar, were amazing.
Green Course
Pace of play during the week here is solid. Group of 3 in front of us were older and knew how to keep it moving. I was paired with a group of 2. We finished the round in 3:40 walking. If you play here or the white course on a weekend forget about it the round will take you over 5 hours minimum. They don't have rangers riding the course so unless you call and complain no shot at keeping it moving. My advice is play here during the week if you can and if you have to play on weekend make sure you are calling the ranger as soon as the first 5/10 minute back up on whatever hole it is happens.
Greens in Bad Shape
Greens were bumpy, uneven & yellow/faded as they must have been recently punched. I would not recommend playing this course for the next few weeks.
Can't touch this
Coming here just makes my day. I love everything about this course. Make sure to come out one hour before your tee time so you could hit some at the golf range. My friends and I try to come here at least once a week. Try the green course first then play the white course the following weekend. We find the green course to be easier than the white course.Don't forget to grab something to eat after you finish your round. The food there is great. Just go there and have fun with your friends like we do. Thanks golfnow!
Great variety of holes
This course is not boring, you do not have hole after hole that seem exactly the same. Challenging par fours, some where you need to take driver off the tee and some where a long iron is best suited to put you in a good position to go for the green. This course lends to using all the clubs in your bag.
I’ve played all three courses in Tunxis and it’s my opinion that the green course is in the worst condition in terms of a greens and the ruffs, the fairways are OK but the greens were very very bumpy almost like they hadn’t been cut and rolled in over a week. But overall the layout is fantastic the pace of play was right on and the after play amenities are the best.
Practice time
I can't say enough about this golf course. Like I said before; My friends and I would play here every day if we could. We play here every weekend because we love playing here. I would recommend this place to every one I know and some. The staff are really friendly. Everything about this golf course is beautiful. The layout is great. The tee box, fairways and all the greens are always in great condition. Thanks again for keeping this place in such a great condition.
Senior course
We loved the layout of the course. The variety, length and the doglegs on certain holes makes for an interesting and thoughtful club selection on the majority of holes.

Close Call
We had a foursome and playing together for the first time.. The front nine was really closed we finish with the score of: (95) (96) ,(97) and (97). That's what you call a close call! Everything about this course: The tee box, fairways and all the greens was in great
condition. I thank Golfnow for this opportunity to play in such a beautiful Golf Course. We all had a great time plying here. Iif you never played here before, I would recommend everyone to come out and play a round of GOLF at Tunxis Country Club in Farmington, Connecticut.
Thanks Golfnow for this fun day of golf!
Still playing…
Nice course and in good shape. Saturday at noon tee time finished at 6 PM so they’re clearly not monitoring pace of play.
