King of the Denver golf courses
Wow... a classic Colorado golf course, private back in the 1920's, Wellshire remains the premiere Denver golf course and one of our very best Statewide!
Phenomenal condition! So green, from immaculate fairways to jungle rough, you'd think you were in Brazil.
Spend too much time in "Brazil" today and your score will be just as scary!
Wellshire offers every test for your game from the back tees but one thing... they call their back tee box, the "Bronze" tees and the next set of closer tees, the "Gold"... maybe the maintenance crew or Superintendent got rushed or confused but all tee boxes were like this :).
Avoid the rough throughout the day, you're rewarded but you still have to hit greens and if you push or pull your approach, you open a whole new world of scramble-golf!
I paid my dues today; I always do when I play here but this experience is worth every penny and more... just don't tell Denver we'd pay more to play here. In high school, green fees were $7 for nine holes and $16 for eighteen.
Do yourself a favor and play here, especially this super lush-green season! Cheers!

Beautiful day at Wellshire
Such a great golfing experience! Beautiful weather and the course was in excellent condition. Played 18 holes. The staff in the pro shop are so friendly! Highly recommended.
Great Day on the Links!
A beautiful May day in Denver. Course was in great shape. I always enjoy this course.
Course
Overall the course is in good condition with the fairways well maintained and the rough not very difficult. The only issue is just how bad the greens are. They’ve needed to be replaced fo several years now. I get that it’s a huge expense but something needs to be done.
Crusty Starter completely unprofessional; Worst Experience Golfing I've ever had.
Was having a good experience taking my fiance for her first time playing 18, and the first Starter on duty at hole 1 was amazing. Once we finished the 9th hole we were back at the start. There was a new Starter on duty, the old crusty, short guy with a mustache. As we finished the 9th, he sprinted towards us and began to yell at us for pace of play. Throwing his hands in the air, and shouting. It was competely out of line, utterly unprofessional, and felt totally confrontational. We were at most 15 minutes behind, but a single warning to get us to pick it up would have sufficed. Also, we were losing our 4th golfer after the 9th hole, so we knew it would pick up pace.
Instead he continued to berate us. After a few holes, we actually managed to gain some ground to the point that the group behind no longer had to wait. However, We just couldn't get shake the thought of that incompetent imp schreeching in our faces. As a result, our day was so ruined, we had to leave after the 14th hole.
It was my fiancé’s first time doing 18, and it’s crusty old bags like that starter are the exact reasons why people are hesitant to try golf in the first place. We knew pace was in issue, but was trying our best to keep it up and felt rushed the whole time. There were times we we were also waiting on the tee-box for the group ahead of us, so we really were moving as quickly as possible. I question if we would have gotten the same treatment if everyone in our group was Male.
Advice to the starter- we get it buddy we need to pick up the pace. 1 warning or reminder is enough. You don’t have to get in people’s faces and shout to get a point across. You’d think spending hundreds of dollars to play would come with a little leniency. It’s people like that starter that bring out the worst in golf and make people not wanna try it in the first place.
Overall great
Great staff, great city park golf, good conditions overall, greens very fast. Fun play
Wellshire GC
Played today with a nice group. I’m a scratch golfer, but wasn’t slowed down as I played with a beginner. The course was actually in great condition. Had a great day!!!!
