Patty Jewett provided great winter golf.
We love to play this course in the summer as do many others because it is a very old course with lots of trees and though it is a city course it has a country club feel to it. It is extremely well maintained and efficiently run. With this Colorado winter we have had lots of snow and so were excited to go play. PJ didn't let us down. Though there was some snow in places it only came into play a handful of times. Thanks Patty Jewett!!!
Patty Jewwitt Looking GREAT even in November!!
I know it's November and everyone is trying to play that last minute round, but sending out foursomes every 8 minutes is not how to make golf enjoyable. We pulled up to play at our tee time and there was a delay (not a shocker), but 4 players on the green, 4 players waiting in fairway and 4 more on the tee means something is not right. I asked the Starter if I could go out on the Prairie (designated for 9 holes that day), because there was only a twosome on the teebox and players approaching the green at that time. I was warned that it was slow too, but nothing like what I saw going on the Peak... Turned out that the 9 holes on Prairie was smooth and did not wait until we got to the 9th hole!!! Then finished the round on a completely open Peak, because no one except a few single walkers were in front of us. The course was in excellent condition. A few bumpy greens and tons of leaves that would have been nice if they were mowed up that morning knowing that the weather was going to be excellent. FUN round though and a few lost balls in the rough because of the leaves... That will teach me not to hit them straight..
decent for a monday.
This place was really busy when I showed up. I waited 20 minutes past my tee time. My only pet peeve was the starter. Not the friendliest of sort. And is there really a need for a loud intercom for tee times?
Beat my buddy
PJ has 3 nine hole courses, we played the shortest. It was a good course to get in a good, quick round. Fairways were in great shape for late in the season and greens and tee boxes were also. My round was good enough to beat my buddy who I never beat, so it made it even better.
Had a great day!!
Paired with a member who was very helpful about layout and distance. Got some get pictures of pikes peak. Staff was great was able to get me off and hour earlier than original tee time .
Patty was great
Great old time golf course with a great vibe. The staff did a great job overcoming a communication issue between GolfNow and their T-Sheet. While the course was busy because of the great conditions and outstanding weather or a late October day, the round played in just under 4.5 hours.
Good course, bad management and pace of play
I have played this course several times, but I sometimes wonder why I come back. The pace of play on the weekends is excruciatingly slow. People hit into your group constantly. The starters are very unfriendly. It's overpriced to play and there are no rain checks allowed at all, even if it storms!?. I both love and hate this course...
Great course. Poor starters
Great course, the starters are gruff and treat people like they are just a number unless your a member of the good ole boy club. They don't seem to care about the players
Beautiful Greens
Great course for all levels. Bunkers need to be raked but an overall great day!
Great mountain views
Fun old school classic golf course with great mountain views!
Patty Jewett is a jewel of a city course
Patty Jewett is a great city course for locals in Colorado Springs. It is one of the oldest courses west of the Mississippi. The course gets a lot of play. Even with the amount of play, the course is always in great shape. It has great views of Pikes Peak from many of the tee boxes.
great course
Course in excellent condition speed of play with no problem excellent views and the scenery would recommend this course to anybody great value
Slow play
Course was in great place but took 5 hours and 20 minutes to play 18
Fun track!
With all the moisture in Co this summer, the course is in great shape! Depending upon when you go, pace can be slow due to all the old guys playing. But the course is in about the best shape I've ever seen. Green are good, had a really great time!
Course is in its best condition in years.
Cheap rates great value. The fairways are a little too soft/wet. Greens were easily 11 or 12 on the meter. They have finally put numerous tee time on GolfNow.com. In the past, You could not get a time before noon any day of the week. I got the 8:00am tee time this past Sunday. Very amazing for PJ.
City Course...but...
This course was amazing. For a city owned course, it was well maintained, and very interesting and well maintained.
Being 27 holes, you could end up with ANY type of combination. The courses are divided into three sets of 9 holes...PEAK, PLAINS, and PRAIRIE. On this day, I played PEAK and PLAINS. Not too difficult to play, everything was pretty open, fairway next to fairway.
The real danger lies in the driveway up. You drive up between hole #1 for the PEAK course and #9 for the PLAINS course. And it's a fairly busy driveway...wonder how many cars have golf ball marks from just trying to get to/from the clubhouse.
I can not wait to play this course again.
Slow
Patty Jewett is a fun course, and always in fine shape....but it is incredibly slow to play. There is zero emphasis on rate of play from staff and rangers. Because of this you can count on a backup of 4+ groups ahead of you at some point, making it impossible and pointless too play through. I have played here 5-10 times in the last 3 years and without fail this happens every time. I don't need to play 18 in 3.5 hours, but I have zero interest in waiting 5 minutes to hit after each shot. If you are ok with 4.5-5 hours for 18 it's a nice course, otherwise you can do better elsewhere.

This is a heavely played course.
I have been playing golf for 13 years and this course is my favorite. The rough is for expert play but that is due to all the rain received the last 30 days. The grounds crew is to be congratulated for the great care taken. As Arnold said " I'll be back"
