The 18-hole, public Fitzsimmons Golf Course was designed by the Army Corp of Engineers. The par-72 course opened in 1938 and covers 6,282 yards from its longest tees and it is located on the grounds of a former U.S. Army hospital. Originally in 1918, the course was three sand greens but under several renovations by Army engineers, it eventually became a recreational military course that even President Dwight D. Eisenhower golfed on during a visit to Denver. Fitzsimmons Golf Course has tree-lined fairways and elevated greens that are small and fast. A water hazard comes into play on only one hole.
