Oaks/Lakes at North Ranch Country Club

I’m a bride and recently contacted North Ranch wedding coordinator and set my date around their availability. Before I went I specifically asked the coordinator, Brianna, did I need to put down a deposit at the time of viewing because I wouldn’t have funds until a week from then. No problem, I was told. I drove an hour in the rain to get there, saw what I could, liked what I saw, set a date and signed a contract with the understanding a deposit would follow in a few days when I had funds available. All was fine, or so t thought, and I left, back out for my hour’s rainy drive home.. Two days later I got a call from Brianna telling me someone else was looking at that date and if I couldn’t drop everything and speed the deposit out there I could forget it. I still didn’t have the funds so she curtly told me my contract was null and void. Obviously the. Bottom line is more important to these unfeeling people than wishes, who got there first and promises. I have a wonderful venue now in Newport Beach and they couldn’t care less when I send a deposit.. I wouldn’t go back to North Ranch if they were the last venue in the planet. Double shame!!

Golf course review: I played the Valley / Oaks from the Green tees (130). The course condition was in good shape with some brown and patchy spots. The greens were rolling very well and true (more important). There are some mild elevation changes, but nothing dramatic. Also few blind tee shots and the course is shaped so you really have to pay attention to your tee shot alignment. We played on a very windy day (20 + mph) so difficult to assess playability of the course. There are few holes with sore spots (par 3 on the Oak side next to the maintenance yard), but overall pretty good course. Scenery isn't great as this is a typical housing track course. Probably need to play the course few times to get a better feel. Overall a good course to play.
