Schaffer’s Mill Club (formerly known as Timilick Club and Eaglewood Golf Course) is part of a gated community located between the North Star and Squaw Valley ski resorts, making it conveniently close to plenty of activities for the family. The high-mountain terrain of the course allows golfers to enjoy some spectacular views of the Lake. The landscape is varied, offering a meadow nine accented with pine forests, lakes, and streams and a mountain nine with rocky outcroppings and interesting elevation changes. Small greens and strategically placed bunkers make shot placement essential to doing well. Schaffer’s Mill Club's seventh hole is one of the most notable holes on the course. It is a long par-3 that is inspired by the famous "Redan" hole of North Berwick Golf Links in Scotland with a well guarded green that angles right to left behind and to the left.

Awesome Private Club Experience

Was lucky enough to get to play this private course while out west. The course was in great shape and the design was great as well. I felt it was somewhat difficult but it was fairly windy and I was also playing fairly terribly. The staff was incredibly friendly. Definitely a must play if you can get on or know the right people.

Great course condition & design

one of the most forgiving J Miller courses I have played off tee. Great conditions, super friendly staff, back 9 even more spectacular (and difficult) than front. We had a great day. Top 5 or 10 courses I have played in my life...

Awesome Course!!!!

This is a must play if you're in and or around the Truckee / Lake Tahoe area. Awesome course!!!! Chase and Jesse in the pro shop were great. Jess (cart girl) was wicked nice! Theodore (in the bar) was super. Once of the nicest courses my brother and I have ever played.

We played on a Monday when the course allows non-members to play. WIth that said, I want to recognize the foursome that teed off at 8:30 am on Monday, September 12. You guys were both awful and painfully slow. It' s not often that it takes 2 hours to play 6 holes, but you guys made that happen. Good job. My brother and I played the next 44 holes in just over 6 hours.

Fantastic course! Can't wait to play it again.

My new favorite near the north shores of Lake Tahoe

It is a high-class experience getting to play such an exclusive private club - which public players can do on Mondays.
The conditions were excellent. With so few players on the course, we were able to whiz through the round and feel like we had the place to ourselves.
Starting at no. 9, every hole is a keeper with the back nine as good as mountain golf gets. The visuals are striking. The 10th fairway climbs uphill over a waterfall and the 17th fairway falls downhill to a great reveal, a pond near the green. What a fun round.

great experience

Excellent layout--Miller's best that I have played. The staff was very friendly and assisting. Private club but has some public play on Mondays, I think.

Mountain Course Paradise

Schaffer's Mill is not a course I could play often because it was pretty expensive. The do offer public play on Mondays.

The proshop is pretty small with limited selection of items. The facility itself is all you need. Excellent bar/restaurant area.

The practice facilities are great. Big putting green and chipping area. Plenty of balls out at a large range area.

The course is pretty tight and not as open as some of the neighboring courses. there are holes where I wish I had hit a 3 or 5 wood instead of a driver. The fairways were perfect. The rough is practically non-existint. The greens have a lot of undulation and were very quick, smooth.

I really enjoyed Schaffer's Mill!

One my favorites in Truckee

Simply put, Schaffer's Mill is a special experience. Excellent conditioning, better views and lots of interesting holes make this a must-play when you're in the Truckee area or Lake Tahoe, for that matter. Formerly known as Timilick Club, the course was renamed Schaffer’s Mill Golf Course in 2011 to commemorate George Schaffer, the man known as the “Father of Truckee.” Designed by John Harbottle and Johnny Miller, the course is located inn the Martis Valley where Schaffer first opened his saw mill. Surrounded by mountains, the course makes use of grassy meadows, streams with plenty of elevation changes, bringing in some magnificent views.
