Sinaloa
Played 9 holes with the wife this afternoon. My 2nd time playing here. POP was good, we walked 9 in less than 1.5H in clear, calm conditions around 85 degrees.
Shorter par 3 course where the holes average less than 120 yards. The difficulty factor goes up with some of the fairly severe, small greens however. Flat, easy course to walk.
On 1st glance the tees overall were poor, fairly chewed up, which you would expect for a short par 3 course. You could tell the tee markers had not been rotated often enough and there was no divot mix available to repair the divots. However, by moving around, level stances and lush spots could be found to hit from.
The fairways and rough do not really come into play that much on a par 3 course. The fairways were fairly lush. the rough was thinner but had okay coverage, more hit and miss the farther you got from the fairways.
The sand traps need to be avoided because evidently no one who plays here realizes that the rakes are not ornaments merely decorating the course. I was in 2, and both times was in one of the dozens and dozens of unraked footprints.
The greens were surprisingly good. Medium speed, held approach shots well and rolled fairly smooth. Not as many ball marks as I would expect for a short par 3 course.
$12 to walk wasn't bad for a Sunday afternoon. While it's technically only a 9 hole course, they have alternative tees that would give you a different look at the greens for the 2nd 9 if you play 18. The customer service was good, quick, efficient check in.
While the conditions overall were not great, they were better than expected. If you just would like to practice your short game on a course, this isn't a bad place to do it.
Sinaloa
Many of the golf balls on the range were downright sad. I defy ANYONE to hit some of those balls straight! They were lopsided and so far out of alignment, made whistling noises and would often curve in both directions.
The small, hump backed greens are at best average. They were bumpy and medium slow.
The tees were very chewed up, as you would expect for a short course.
The course overall was hard as a rock, and like many local courses, needed watering.
If you are a beginner or want to go out and practice your shorter clubs, this may be a good place. Not a bad par 3 course, I have played worse. However, it is a FAR step down from most local regulation courses in every regard.
Best Par 3 Anywhere
Strongly recommend this par 3 ALL GRASS course. Pace of play is great any day of the week. Fairways are distinctive and cut real tight for great chipping. Greens are always in excellent shape, better then most big courses.
Don't pass this one up if your in town or live in Simi.
Great for kids and beginners
