Excellent conditions
now is the time to play this course!! in beautiful shape after this nice winter, nice break from the heat inland, friendly staff, challenging course but beautiful
Late summer..,course is dry but plays well. Putting greens are in excellent shape for late summer
Make the Trip!
After a scenic drive up Highway 1, you will arrive at what is in my opinion one of northern California’s best kept links golf secrets. Sea Ranch reminded me of Bandon, where it’s all about the Golf. Nothing pretentious, beautifully carved out of the landscape, immaculate putting surfaces and a true sense of nature throughout your round. I will be playing 36 on my next visit! Great course.
Sanded greens, not mowed every tough to putt, this was not mentioned at the golf shop
Sea Ranch
I love this course, it is small, fairly remote and challenging. Scenery is great, friendly staff and just fun to play. My only complaint is that the greens had been punched recently and putting was a part of the round that was missing.
Great course!
Great course.
Spectacular views and wildlife
A beautiful coastal course with ocean views on many holes. Some challenging holes mixed with easy ones. Pace of play is great. I highly recommend this course.
Fun course....
Haven’t played here in some 15 years but always great to be back at a Sea Ranch. Very casual, staff very friendly....course is holding pretty well despite the massive amounts of rain. Greens a bit slow due to rain but in otherwise great condition.
Harder on the back 9 than the front
the front 9 seems easier than the back although it has some challenging holes. The back 9 has many more places to find trouble and takes more concentration to get a good score on the back 9. Still fun to play just challenging. Only get here a couple of times a year since it is a long drive.
Greens were just pnxhed
Course for price is not in good shape with greens just punched and not mowed the price for 18 holes should be reduced considerably. We have played this course numerous times and this is the most expensive and the worse shape for greens
Sea Ranch
My favorite golf course , the greens were just sanded and plugged but the course is in great shape . I always enjoy my round of golf there .
Dissapointed
I arrived at the course and the practice area was all sanded and a sign on door said 'front nine closed today'. I had already paid for 18 holes, so I played back 9 twice. I was disappointed (1) I didn't get to play the front 9, which is closest to ocean and (2) There was no aeration/closure alert by Golf Now.
Sea Ranch
Favorite course to play in NorCal. Worth the drive up the coast
Beautiful, Challenging, and Great Value
The Sea Ranch Golf Links has been a constant on the northern Sonoma coast. From the 8th green you can watch whales spouting, and the rolling fairways bordered by native grasses and its tight greens make this more than a challenge. Like all coastal courses in CA, the downwind and upwind holes demand a deft touch. During the summer, when it dries out, it plays like a true links course. Rent a house, play a few rounds -- well worth it.
Great course! Challenging, especially windy
I was excited to play Sea Ranch while visiting family in the area, and I was not disappointed!
This links-style course was in great shape with rain a few weeks ago, but had time to dry out just enough where the fairways and greens were nice and soft. However, be prepared to hit low shots that stay out of the wind, which will have you playing bump and runs instead of trying to throw darts at the pin location. The day I played, I was battling about 20+ mph winds. And in the summer, I was told these greens get really dried out and quick. The bunkers are kind of just dirt pits. I mistook one of them for a dirt cart path and drove right through it. Don't worry, I went back and raked...
I gave 5 stars for value since I got a GolfNow hot deal ($33), but I might have trouble paying the full $82 to play here.
The course layout is challenging but manageable. I played with 2 other guys, and thankfully one of them plays Sea Ranch a few times a year. If you're playing here for the first time without someone with local knowledge, be sure to grab the layout book from the pro shop. After I finished 18, I went back and played the front 9 again. After shooting +11 the first time on the front (ouch), I shot +2 on the second go-around. Course knowledge helps!!!
Not a ton of options for food in the pro shop, but I got a hot dog and 2 light beers for $10.
Oh, and you will definitely see more deer than people.
Course played well considering all the rain. Greens are in great shape and pace of play is fast. Well worth the green fees.
