North Course at Murieta
great course layout, staff service was excellent, course in pretty good shape, but pace of play was somewhat slow, seem to be very busy this day during mid-day.
Great first Go Here
Was a great round for me. The course was windy , greens were soft, yet somehow, Fast. Was a good day. Had 10 pars and 3 doubles, and 5 singles. It was an 83 but felt like I hit a hundred. It was work and I enjoyed it.
If your swing is off it will be a slog
Be on your short game and your scores can be low. Get too far from the holes on chips and it will be difficult to make up with even the best putting.
Short Game, Long Game, Intermediate Game, and Putting; its all here in one round. If you're an intermediate player and you want to see where your skills and capabilities lie, play this and you'll know either to your joy or determent. But if its difficult, don't blame the course; get better.
I'm playing here again over the 4th.
The layout is decent
They fareways are like hitting off of hard pan ~ 9 times out of 10 you’ll end up in a hole in the fareway ~ sand traps are mud and hard ~ they shouldn’t be called sand traps ~ the greens are large which is a good thing but the greens keeper pulls the cups so 100% of the time you’ll slip left or right and not know why.
The rough is the same as the fareways ~ holes everywhere!
If you’re playing in a tournament or with the women you are playing the ball down ~ if you usually score in the 80’s’ be ware, you won’t break 90 playing the ball down and out of what they call sand traps oh and don’t forget the sneaky greens with the sharp left or right due to them pulling the cup ~ Ouch over priced for what you get for sure ~ pace of play is SLOW they allow 5 sums.....
Better than expected
I have been hearing from various sources that Rancho is in bad shape so I was pleasantly surprised to find it in reasonably good shape. The greens were excellent, the fairways pretty good, the tees so-so, and the bunkers better than average. The course isn't what it once was but is well worth playing.
Corona Time
First playing. More challenging than the South course. Good layout. Lots of fun.
Rancho Murieta North
The pro shop was excellent and the gentleman named Brady was very professional and was all ready for us at check in time.
Challenging, But Fun
My friend and I decided to book a tee time on the North Course based on recommendations from some other friends. The course didn't appear to be very busy, so we decided to play from the Black Tees. We both struggled a little on the front, but then started to get more comfortable on the back. Pretty challenging course in my opinion, especially from the tips. Would highly recommend, if you don't mind some narrow fairways and elevated greens with challenging pin placements. Make sure to be on your game whenever you play, otherwise, it may be a long day!
Great Track
This is a great course with some challenging holes. Course was in pretty good shape, except the rough hadn’t been mowed on a few holes.
North course not what it used to be.
Surprised at the average condition of this once good course. Our tee time was 20 mins late. Compliance with the covid 19 requirements was attempted and probably the cause fir confusion.
Open during the Crisis
Glad to see you can still get out and play a round. Course condition ok fairways way to dry, bare spots in every fairway. Sand traps are dirt traps and hard as a rock. But one of the few courses open in the area but way overpriced for a country club in poor condition.
35 years
It has been at least 35 years since I have played Rancho Murieta North. Fantastic layout. Challenging yet fair. The greens are firm, true and undulating. Highly recommend this course.
Lots of dead grass
The greens were nice, tee boxes and fairways were dead. They need to water the course.
Played there on 6/21. +11 round. Didn't seem like that at all. Was more than challenging on/around the greens. Based on stats, (assuming you hit the Par 3's) I doubt you wound up in 12.6 of 14 holes in fairways, or marks . Maybe hit different distances than average golfers and you wont wind up in a hole in the fairway?. Thought it was good. Suits my game. Each course is its own game. It's not an easy course. The ground the course was built on is hard. Know how to "pick" the ball with your irons and you can do well here .. I recommend you give it another go and adapt to the natural conditions
