The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa is home to Gary Player's first and only desert golf course. The Gary Player Signature Course is one of two championship courses at the resort, Pete Dye designed the other. It is generally more player friendly than the Dye course, but with water coming into play on 10 holes, the Gary Player-designed layout still offers a fair amount of challenges. The 20 acres of tranquil lakes and cascading waterfalls come into play most notably on three of the golf course's par 3s: the fifth, eighth and 12th. The most difficult water hole though was saved for last. The par-4 finishing hole requires a strong drive past an expansive lake to a dogleg right fairway.
