The highly regarded Torrey Pines South Course, site of the epic 2008 U.S. Open battle between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate, was designed by legendary course architect William P. Bell and completed by his son, William F. Bell. Like its sister course, the North Course, the South is perched high above the Pacific Ocean. In 2001, Torrey Pines South Course underwent a major renovation led by Rees Jones, resulting in new grasses and lengthening the course to more than 7,700 yards.
