A bit rough
Course is a bit rough right now, I have played here in the past a few years ago and it was in the summer and there seemed to be more grass there. The fairways were pretty rough this time. Lots of time you are hitting off the dirt in the middle of the fairway. I do have to say the greens and tee boxes were in great condition
Great course for the money
Greens are in great shape. The the few bunkers I ended up in were filled with actual sand. The course suffers like many of the southern ca golf courses from water restrictions but over all it was a good day.
Poor Conditions, but playable
Course looks like many in Southern California suffering from water drought...very brown and dead. The greens and tee boxes are actually green and in fairly good condition, but everything else in between is brown. There is even some dirt spots but they're not THAT bad.
Despite the conditions, I had a good time playing and cannot complain about the prices...I had a decent round of golf for a cheaper price.
I may come back eventually and maybe recommend it to someone, but I would try several others in the area first.
Fall Broke
With several carts not able to make all 18 holes, very bad practice balls and matts, nd brown fairways, I still have fun, but don't expect much more. Seed the fairways ?
Condition of course
The fairways are completely dead. They are not using wateraccept for tee boxes and greens. It's ugly but the deals can make it fair.
The course its a desert
How could you be even posting this as a golf course its all dirt and dry fairways the greens can hardly be called greens. Our golf car broke down in the 12th hole by the time we got a replaced it was so late that couldn't finished playing it. You must not send players to this or any course in such conditions. I should get a refund at the least.
It's a Dirt Course
I Do understand there's a drought in Southern California But this course was just unacceptable. I quit after eight rounds. The pace was so slow I was falling asleep in my golf cart. And hit every shot off dirt fairway I had better things to do. I wish I could get my money back.
PostroundingReview
It was OK experience and worth it for the money That I paid.
Goodbye Fallbrook GC
I hadn't played Fallbrook in over a year and was shocked to see that they have let the course die. The greens are still being watered, but the tee boxes are sand, the fairways are worse than anything you'll see elsewhere, and the course is obviously being left to die. Whatever they charge for green fees is too much. Avoid this course, or what used to be a course.
Fun lil' track
Had a tee time at 6:22 on Veterans Day. Arrived around 6, and was greeted by the guy bringing the carts out. After small talk, he gave us a cart key and told us just go on and start and check in at the turn. Nice!!! First ones on the course!
The course layout is nice. Like others have said, the fairways are rough, we just placed our ball on grass if it didn't land on it in the fairway. Greens were in ok shape. After a couple rain days and the grass comes back, this is going to be one lush course! So at the turn we check in. Forget the guys name behind the counter, but he couldn't of been nicer! He explained they had a well go down, so water wasn't as easy to come by.
We went to get a water and I needed a Red Bull. Girl in the snack shop is really nice. By nice I mean she is easy to look at. Seriously though, they didn't have any energy drinks there, so she went to the restaurant to get me one. Did I mention she's easy to look at?
To sum it up, the course isn't in the greatest shape right now, but the staff is great, and I played golf on a Wednesday with my son, so really what is there to complain about?
Inexpensive but unfortunately not worth it
A lot of courses around have let the fairways go a little because of the local drought conditions...which is perfectly understandable. Unfortunately Fallbrook has dirt patches throughout many of the fairways, the greens are not good at all and many of the tee boxes are bad as well. The round is inexpensive but we still were disappointed. I've played this course many times and enjoy the layout and the bar after but we're going to have to give it a while before we go back and see what changes they are able to make.
Very poor shape
This course has been around for many years and the past owners have always kept it in good shape.
This is no longer the case. Several of the fairways on the front nine were down to bare dirt. Green were ok but a few are battling a fungus.
It is sad to see such an old gem being abused by the current ownership.
Food in the bar is rediculously over priced if you are playing here go to Pala Mesa for your food and drink.
Bottom line is the current owner has let the course go to he** and has raised the prices sounds like a good formula for bankruptcy.
Needs much improvement
Sad, the course is in horrible shape and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. Play was very slow - 5 1/2 hours.
Drier then the Kansas dust bowl of 1920. You literally have to look for grass.
It's a shame the golf course doesn't look as good as the lawn of the mayor of San Diego! It's a great round if you like playing in a dirt pasture. People that work there are incredible thou.
Drought Conditions
This is one of my favorite course, two hole in ones probably being the reason. But the condition of the course has gone from nice to terrible. California is in a drought, I get it. But the fairways had no grass, the green were still punched without a warning on the golfnow website. Only good thing is we only had to pay $11 for it. It's a great layout, I really love this place, but we need some rain or they need to lay down artificial turf. It's going downhill fast. Come on El Nino.
Ptm46
Only the back nine was low. Due to punching the front. But decent on the back considering the draought restrictions.
Heth Twosome
Had good time with no delays. The greens and fairways well maintained. Cart paths wide enough. Good tee locations.
Good value in an old school course
Dated and struggling with SoCal water issues, the course is a great place to go for an afternoon practice round. It is fairly priced for what you get.
Skip until the drought is over!
A buddy and me decided to play at Fallbrook due to the great hot deal rate. We were paired up with a couple of regulars that gave us great advice on the holes and where danger spots were. Good guys. I liked the course layout and for an older course it would of been fun to play....except the "fairways" were missing. They have not been watered in awhile and playing off the fairway felt like hitting of concrete. Tee boxes and greens were okay, but solid dirt instead of any fairways. Skip this until the drought is over. But then I think it would be a fun round.
