Golfing Gem on the Northern California Coast
This 18 hole, par 70, course meanders through the majestic coastal redwoods of Northern California. The USGA rating for scratch golfers from middle tees is 66.9; the slope rating for bogey golfers is 109. The fairways are wide, however, there are treacherous, gravity dense sloughs snaking through the entire course which require some strategic club selections. The greens are large, well maintained, and will 'hold' a good approach shot. The course is well designed and each hole is diverse, you won't be wondering if you'd already played your next hole. When you get to #9, you may want to call the club house to order a couple of street tacos or taquitos to take with you to the back nine, excellent Mexican Restaurant. During your round, you very well may witness deer, bay otter, Aleutian cackling geese, myriad ducks, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, an occasional allusive fox,.... you are, after all visiting their home, the coastal redwoods. Oh, and price, you won't find a better deal with such diversity, anywhere. Hope to see you out here!
Great Value
The course is nice. It could use some upgrades, like paved trails. Other than that it is nice and we'll groomed.
Not bad for a muni
As with most municipal golf courses play can be a little slow at times, but it's still a fun course to play. During the winter high tides the course is sometimes so beware. I've got a great picture of a rowboat on the 9th fairway. A nice course and reasonably priced.
Nice Course
This was such a nice course to play 9 holes at. It is an 18 hole course, but my buddy and I played only the front 9 this time due to time constraints.
One thing to note, is the driving range was out of balls prior to our start, but that was probably due to the fact we did not start until about 3:30pm. The staff was very apologetic for it; however.
The practice green was to our satisfaction. The course appears to be well kept, as are most courses I've played in the past. The course seems busy, and as novices we did let a couple of groups play through. They were very kind, and did not try to rush us, which is always appreciated by noobs.
The pro shop seemed adequately stocked. I had forgotten my glove at home, and picked up a FootJoy glove for around $11.00. Twilight play only cost us just under $13.00, and a pull cart rental was only $3.00. I believe regular weekday green fees are about $22, with weekend fees being about $26. I believe a cart is about $15 per person, or thereabouts.
