Needs Attention!
Everything prior to starting a round of golf is fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good driving range with lots of room. Large 18 hole putting green that is a little rough but in pretty good shape and a couple of chipping greens that are very nice. The problem with this course is the course itself. The tee boxes were so overgrown that the ball was barely visible when on a tee. On the day my group played the grass on the fairways was as long or longer the the rough. There are more bare spots and hard pan in the fairways then I’ve seen on any other course. I’m guessing the bunkers are supposed to be grass and some are but most are overgrown weeds. Greens are a good size but need some work. Some had been cut but most had not. Greens were slow and the ball hopped a lot. This course is well laid out with great views of the Gil’s Mountains. If properly maintained this could be one of the best courses in the area. Based on the condition of the course, at $59 for a round, it is overpriced right now. We’ll give it a go again next year and will provide a follow up.
Beautiful course, beautiful people!
It’s always a great day when you’re golfing. The staff at Las Barrancas keeps the course looking great in the hot summer months! Beautiful hills and lots of wildlife too. Happy people here!
Hi, we appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will make sure to inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Las Barrancas Golf Course!
Great for the most part
could use a little work on the grass but other than that it was great!
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Las Barrancas Golf Course.
Great layout
Been playing here for two years now since it’s right out my backyard.
First where it needs improvements,
The fairway grass is still a little spotty but much better than last year
General clean up along the fairways edges to help find your ball when you’re close to out of play ( help speed up the pace of play )
The greens could use to be speeded up a bit although being a little slow they roll nice. The green side bunkers are grass and should be sand
What is good about the course
The layout is as good as it gets you better be driving it in the fairway. If the conditions were better it would be as good as any Troon course I’ve played, my complements to the designer. Each hole is its own space and generally can’t be seen from the other holes. I dare you to play from the tips OMG what a monster 6880 yards a real test of golf. Five sets of tee boxes be sure to play from the box that matches your handicap
The views are really nice of the Gila mountains and turn to the west and you can see for 40 miles. A lot of wildlife to be seen, birds, rabbits, roadrunners, lizards and yes the occasional rattle snake
Tale of two courses, the front nine is very interesting and mostly flat. The greens are large with lots of slope and break in them. The back nine is all up and down with some forced carries, it continues with large greens and several greens having multi tiers.
Oh yeah it’s really back to nature only two fairways with houses on them
Hi, thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course conditions are extremely important to us. Please know that we are currently working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the course as the current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Las Barrancas Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
Most Improved course in Yuma
This course hired a new greens keeper 2 years ago and he has really transformed it! The fairways had lush grass and only a few bare spots, the greens were flat and uniform, the greens have a mixture of grass types so they look a little different but they roll nicely. The tee boxes are in great shape as well. Now that many of the winter visitors have left the play is so much quicker! If you have golfed it earlier in the season you should check it out now, it will surprise you!
Hi planehorder. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Las Barrancas Golf Course.
Pleasant Desert Course
As desert courses go, this is a nicely laid out course that is well maintained with difficult greens . It is priced very fair , with free range balls and very polite staff. It is easily the best course in the Yuma area.
wish the fairways were as good as the greens
I played this course without knowing anything about it. Good thing the greens are fantastic, because the rest of the course is in dire need of work. I guess they play winter rules all the time, because finding a piece of ground with grass on it, is hard work.
Thanks for taking a chance on us! It's great to hear you had a mostly good time, but we're sorry to hear the fairways were a challenge for you! We're aware of the course conditions, and we're working on scheduling some maintenance soon. If you're ever in the neighborhood again, please feel free to come by! We guarantee you'll have a much better experience.
The condition of this course has improved tremendously since 2012.
We played Las Barrancas many times in 2011 and 2012, but because the condition of the course was poor in our opinion, we didn't play it at all in 2014. We gave it a try on Monday, March 23, 2015, and were pleasantly surprised by how much better shape the course was in this year. We are playing there again on Friday, March 26.
Silverfox,
Thank you so much for the review! We're proud to have your returned patronage. We look forward to seeing you on the course again soon.
Great golf experience for one and all
Some of the best golf holes in the area. well worth the drive .
We're so happy you find our course to be worth the drive, Oliver! Thanks for the wonderful review, and we hope to see you back for another round soon.
Average to Poor Public Course
No map on the score cards. It is not a walkable course. Some of the signage as to location of the next hole was confusing. The driving range was stark, and the balls were worn out. Course was overwatered and mushy in spots and hardpan with no grass in others. Grass bunkers were poorly maintained, and swampy in the bottom. Their practice putting area was nice.
We deeply apologize if you were dissatisfied with the conditions of the course when you played here in 2014. We are always working to improve the course conditions to make every round as enjoyable as possible, and we hope you'll give our course another shot to impress you the next time you're in town.
Tucked in the foothills with mountain views nice.
Stay in the fairway or bring extra balls- nice course.
The course was very good
The fairways were a little shaggy and some of the greens sanded, but the over all condition of the course was very good. the whole staff that we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The only issue that we had was on the back 9, the play got very slow and there was no marshal to keep the groups moving
BEAUTIFUL GREENS
Tee bixes & green were immaculate... if the staff reflected even 10% of the quality of the course, then this course might get a ten....Golf supertendant gets a ten but the folks that Greet you at the course need to hussle to get a 1. Great golf, lousy staff.
good holes
nice course, good layout however lately has not
been maintained well. Staff is indifferent if not dismissive.
While we're happy you enjoy our course and layout, it's concerning to hear you've found our staff to be anything but polite. We hold our staff to an exemplary level of customer service, and we deeply apologize for this. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss this further!
