Formerly known as Indian Bend, the Ambiente Course at JW Marriott's Camelback Golf Club is nestled in Paradise Valley, stretching across acres of beautiful Sonoran Desert. After a $10 million renovation, the golf course is completely different from the original design. More than 1,000 non-native trees were removed, but only those obstructing the stunning mountain views. In their place, more than 1,400 native Acacia trees were added and a significant number of desert trees and shrubs were grown from seed. Another dramatic change included reshaping the landscape in a way that created more change in elevation on one hole than an entire section of the previous course. The greens have plenty of movement, which can make them seem intimidating but they provide very fair putting surfaces. The Ambiente golf course is a nicely contrasting complement to Camelback's Padre Course, a water- and tree-filled parkland layout.
