Turquoise Valley Golf Course originally opened in 1908 as a diversion for copper miners in the area. Being over a century old, it has the distinction of being the oldest continuously operated course in Arizona. The course originally opened as a nine-hole layout and the back nine wasn’t added until decades later in 1996. This gives the front and back nines a completely different character from one another. Golfers begin with a more traditional layout before moving on to the modern, desert target-style back nine. Also on the back nine, golfers will encounter the infamous 15th hole. Besides its long history, Turquoise Valley Golf Course is also known for this hole, which is the only par-6 in the state and stands as the fifth longest hole in the county. At a monstrous 747 yards, the hole is nicknamed the "Rattler" and is one of the most talked-about golf holes in Arizona.

maintenance is a little lax here and the fairways and rough are hard to determine what is what, the greens are fairly well maintained the tee boxes need loads of help overall, not a bad course to play for the money

this course is really showing its age. The tee boxes and fairways are in horrible shape. The greens are a little better but not much. Needs a lot of work.

Course has a good lay out and a par 6.

Been playing this course for a long time and enjoy it every time I play it. Like the lay out of the course greens are fast and a little hard to read. Staff is great and very friendly with a great attitude.

Course Conditions are Improving!

Over several months to a year, the course suffered through poor conditions, lack of water, and management issues. Currently the course appears to be improving. Fairways, tee boxes and greens are receiving attention as maintenance staff if working on them. Water resources have improved and grass areas, fairways, & greens are showing improvement. The restaurant has reopened which has always had great Mexican food. Overall playing Turquoise Valley is a fun experience. The golf course is straight forward and provides challenging shots at all levels.

This course is very challenging, especially the par 6 15th hole.

I like playing this course because you can start with a par or birdie and before you know it one bad shot and yo can go with bogies before you realize it. It's a challenging course and you have to be careful and not take it for granted. The managers and staff are very friendly and make you feel special. Love playing there.

The people that have played this course for years talk about it’s once’s greatness as the oldest golf course in Arizona. I’ve only be playing it for a little over a year and after 5 years of golfing in Vegas it was pretty rough to play in the shap it was in. But they sold it a few months ago and have really improved this course the last several months. It’s getting better every time I play it and looking foreword to it’s continued improvement. There’s talk of destroying it and building a huge RV park and subdivision with a 9 hole made up course that No real golfers will show up for. I’m a RV’r and love to travel and golf. But I will not show up to golf at a RV park with a small 9 hole course and do not see how this would be profitable to build or benefit the area. The current RV park therenow is never near it capacity and there are several RV parks in the local area already. Hope they keep it and continue to improve this course to its original grandeur,

Gotta try it!

it's a great challenge. Desert course means you better hit the fairway. No snakes yet. Greens are extremely challenging but consistent. Stay below the hole! Fantastic value and quick pace of play most times.

History Repeats

The course is generally fun and certain holes do present challenges. Overall the course was in fair condition with winter showing its effect upon parts of the course. Greens were bumpy with speed consistency a challenge. It was also sad to hear that the course is up for sale again. The restaurant was closed and won't reopen until a new owner is confirmed. The bar was open, so that helped.

Diamond in the Rough

Course is out of the way in Naco, AZ, but it's fun to play. Front nine is traditional type layout with the back nine more of a desert layout. Course has had maintenance issues, but seems to be dealing with these issues much better currently. Greens have come back well and fairways are much improved.

The restaurant has some of the best Mexican food around and is worth visiting. Overall a trip to Turquoise Valley is worth the time and should be fun.

Always a Reliable One-day Getaway

For years, to many of us Southern Arizonans, Turquoise Valley has felt like our terrific little secret. Located maybe a driver and three-wood from the border, this jewel provides soothing relief from the hustle and bustle of the cities. The greens have always been among the best, most receptive ones in this part of the state, but the entire course was in particularly good condition today. Whether it is the recent change in ownership, or the dress up for the auction prior to that, the course is in as good of shape as any course I have played in Southern Arizona this summer. Although we didn't do it today, multiple rounds are the norm this time of year. Weekends usually have a little more play, but you can still get in plenty of golf in the afternoon. A lunch break between rounds is often the ticket. The food is pretty good. Plus, it is much cooler here than in Tucson and Phoenix-- about 15 degrees less than Tucson today. With all the old west and attractive tourist locations nearby, this is the place to satisfy the golf jones if you are spending a few days in the area. It is also worth the drive if you are looking to get away for the day. A very stress-free round today. I wish I could play here more often than I do because it has always been one of my favorites.

Awesome Course

I have been playing on this course for almost 15 years. It is always fun playing here. Perfect conditions to play year round. The "Rattler" is the most challenging hole I have ever played throughout my years, but still awesome to play it.
