Enjoyed
Pace was a little slow….course in good shape…fun course
Disappointed
The tee boxes were so hard you could barely get a tee in the ground. The 10th hole was completely covered in range balls all 4 of us had to search for our drives which were in the fairway. The greens need to be watered…..
Good Winter Round at a Fair Price
For those who don't want to get crushed by the sheer greed that has manifested itself in many of the Phoenix-Metro golf courses, this is the course for you. It's still one of the very few local tracks that won't set you back $200 or $300. Are you listening Scottsdale? The course is not overly challenging, but the layout is classic and the conditions are fair. Bunkers were good, but the greens were a tad slow for my liking...probably rolling about 8.5...but a smooth 8.5. The ranger and the pro shop staff are as good as it gets. The cart-girl was very pleasant and available throughout the round. If you want the best value for your money, then I would recommend this round over a round at any of the $300-$500 rounds in Scottsdale. You may not get the views or scenery, but you'll have enough left over to get lunch and a new wedge or putter after you round at Dobson. Also, an added bonus to Dobson over many other courses, is the new upgrades they've made to their driving range. I'm not much of a "range guy", but if you want the benefit of metrics on your shots while you practice, this is a great place to go for that reason alone. Well done, Dobson.
Good....could be better.
I have played this course many times over the years. It's a very nice, popularly priced value. It does a decent job of trying to appeal to players from beginners to seasoned players. A couple of things could really enhance the course. The bunkers have about 1/2 an inch of sand with a very hard bottom. Average players skull every bunker shot flying 30 yards over the green. Repeatedly. Put some sand in the bunkers. Please! Secondly .. most players like fast greens. But in some years Mother Nature doesn't cooperate with great grass growing weather. But they insist on cutting the greens right down to the base. Which makes the greens too fast. Ball marks can't heal and the greens get bumpy. Withe the slopes at this course it makes for bad conditions.
Good grief
It's so loud and there are range balls all over the course. It's literally dangerous to play the 9th & 10th holes because of the range. Everything is also very expensive compared to other venues.
Great muni course
Really pleasant muni course that is well maintained. Solid course for high handicappers with mostly forgiving lies if your ball doesn’t find fairway.
Excellent weather and course for Feb
Course is in great shape. Pace was a tad slow but it happens. Definitely will be returning
Great place to play
Great course to play and the cost for the area is really reasonable, I will definitely play there again on my next visit to the area.
Good Day
We had a very nice time playing this course. Paired with another couple who were a lot of fun to golf with. Only issue we had was on one of the par 3's it wasn't clear where the hole was. All four of aimed for the wrong par 3 hole. Oh well, none of us had played before.
Fun course, loud atmosphere
Used to enjoy this course more 5+ years ago when it was just a regular course. Now with the music going all day around the club house wasn’t a big fan of the atmosphere. Pace was also pretty slow on the day we played, 5 hours to finish 18
Very long pace of play
My grandson and I played Dobson Ranch on Friday, February 9th. We could not get on the range as it was so full. We had wanted to play 18 holes but could not finish due to darkness and the pace of play was 2 hours 50 minutes for the front nine. We could not finish because of darkness. Also, we found out that there was a bachelor party going on and we found multiple 5 somes playing. I called the clubhouse to see if they had a ranger and they said they weren't sure where he was. We never saw a ranger on the course.
Great Golf Staff
The weather was terrible, rainy and cold. We had a group of 13 golfers from Nashville, TN. The weather made it impossible to finish our round and because we could not cash in a "rain check" the staff gave us a "Pro Shop Credit". We will play the course again next time we are in Phoenix.
Maybe a roof?
Course was great except for the 2” of rain overnight. Was a bit damp. Still had a blast with my sons.
Golfing in the rain
Loved the course
Comments
No yardage markers approaching greens
No map on score cards
Fairways nice
Blue tooth speakers on carts nice but could have used the wind shields
No towels handed out for wet carts
Would recommend!
