Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.
DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

Intriguing country course
This course has a thinking person's routing. You should not just pull the driver on every hole. Add a little wind and it is easy to overthink things. Listen to the locals and you will stay out of trouble. There are areas to recover poor shots and a short shot (including topped ones) is nearly always playable.
You will not be bored with the routing as there is a lot of diversity. Water comes into play on some holes, but not a majority.
The greens have some damaged areas and this is the only reason for the lower rating. I think this is due to the dry season.
If you are not a scratch golfer, give the course a try to find your swing. You will find a happy place.
Soldiers
Course was not in good condition. Entire course needs fertilizer. Greens in bad shape. Pace of okay until the last 3 holes, caught up with a very slow three some.
Nice course but greens in bad shape.
We really like this course. Played a few times on vacation in May. The summer has taken its toll on the greens and a few of the fairways. It’s a beautiful course and very peaceful. Pace of play is great. Wish the greens had been in better shape. Lots of bare spots. Still a nice place to play.
Horrible over priced golf
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE overpriced crappy golf course the great rating are not true........40% -60% of the greens are nothing but dirt. Elevations not done correctly are why this course is always wet.....A Golf Super is not an engineer or Architect......dont blame the rain everyone else is doing ok or great....The pricing is crazy overpriced I paid as much to play here as RTJ....justsad that your stealing peoples money.....VERY DISAPPOINTED and Was a PGA CLUB PROFESSIONAL.............
This course is in bad shape
The fairways were in terrible condition. There were large areas completely missing grass on almost every hole. Majority of the holes had areas of deep mud. Hole 11 had a giant puddle in the fairway which resembled a lake. The course was almost unplayable. It would be understandable if it had recently rained, but we played before the rain came. Once it started raining there was no shelter on the course. We had to head for the parking lot. The greens were in great shape, though.
Hidden Gem
Take a short drive from the beach to Elberta, AL for a real treat. First of all, may be the fastest golf cart I've ever driven!
This course offers all levels of skill an opportunity to be challenged. Multiple tee boxes, fairway width, and green shape and size will keep you on your toes.
Nothing fancy, not even like Applebee's, but if I lived within 30 minutes, this would be a regular golf spot for me.
Been raining g so wet conditions in spots
Good course to get your swing down. I've played a lot better courses around for the money though. Seems to be improving
Could be great
Awesome layout and beauty just needs to be better maintained. Overall it is worth the money
Staff Not the Best!
We have a group of 16-30 people that were looking for a venue to add to our rotation. This course failed when they let a 6 some tee off a disrupt and slow play our 6 groups of paying customers. The manager was notified and one member of our group was told "it is what it is" ABSOLUTELY Unacceptable, especially in an early AM tee time. 30 min later the supposed manager decided to come out and check things out, He played the dumb part instead of proving customer service and fixing the issue. We ended up finishing some 45 minutes later than scheduled and some of first groups left because they didn't want to spend the extra waiting after being notified via text what happened. This is not the way management hould be running things and as a business owner I am appauled at the managers remarks when he came out and addressed us. I am not the leader of the group but, they probably just lost 30+ players once a month. The course itself needs some work, greens if left in some areas are unplayable to include the center of the green. IMHO this course is overpriced and mismanaged from my experience, compared to other courses in the area. Look elsewhere netter deals with much better customer service.
Soldiers Creek
