Stunning Layout
If this course fixes their greens, it would be a top 10 public course in Alabama. Front 9 greens are in poor condition - had problem with water being contaminated “last year. Back 9 is much better.
The layout is one of the best I have played from a scenic factor and how well the very hilly terrain is used. Greens have wild undulation that has to been seen in person.
Must play after they fix their greens later this year.
Quite Possibly the Worst Golf Course I've played
I knew the course was in bad shape but had no idea I'd be putting in dirt. The course was close so I went. As usual, the clubhouse staff was rude as always. I think they really hate working there. Just rude as you can get. I would imagine this place will being going bankrupt soon. Good news, we had no one in front or behind us. Took our time. Amazing this place stays open.
Stillwaters
Great layout but course is in bad condition. Fairways are what most courses call rough, greens are gone-basically compressed dirt with a few tufts of grass .Course used to be beautiful.
Avoid - this course is trash
Greens are completely ruined, no grass growing on them at all. Just dirt and moss. Staff are unfriendly, and don't bother asking them for tips or any course knowledge because they don't even play golf.
Carts are wore out, bald tires and some can barely make it through a whole 18 the batteries are so worn out. Bunkers are all washed out and unplayable.
It's sad actually, this course could be a great course but management has no care for this course, they're just letting it fall into ruin. I want to support this course because I live in the community around it and love golf.
I was a regular there sometimes 3 times a week. Staff never greeted me with a smile on their face even though I was supporting the course and bringing friends and family to play. They don't care about the course or the community.
Don't go here, you'll regret it.
Oh and on top of it, they charge 60 plus dollars to play! You can play an actual course that's in premium condition at Robert trent jones in opelika for that price. Now those courses are well worth the 63 dollars I pay to play there!
Dead Greens!!
I’ve played at Stillwater multiple times, but I’ve never seen it so rough. The tee boxes were in bad shape, and there was virtually no grass on the greens. They were all scaly dirt. They did roll pretty good to be dirt, but just not what I expected. This was such a nice course and. The past. I hope they can figure out what steps to take to remedy the greens and get this course back in tiptop condition. I definitely would go back if I knew it was in better shape, but not until then.
Dump
I have no words. See picture below.
$60
Terrible condition
This is the 4-5 time I’ve played this course and every time the greens get worse and worse. It looks like there is some type of flu gas growing on them. Zero grass, the greens that do have “grass” are splotches of weeds that make your put bounce in every direction. It’s frustrating because the course layout is amazing and has endless potential it’s just not taken care of. Not worth the sticker price of 60$.
Better wait until the greens are green again
No fun playing Stillwaters right now. Better wait until later in spring and the ground vegetation is further grown. Currently greens are not green and more like dry mud. Overall course layout is nice and challenging. Staff very friendly.
Course in bad shape
Played on 3/20/2023
None of the greens were puttable. All the fairways were very dry. I know it has been a bad winter but they haven't even started getting it ready for this season.
Will not play again until course is in better shape. A waste of time and money.
Stillwaters
I love this course. One of my favorites. The greens are in pretty rough shape right now but that should change as we getting into spring.
Greens
Loved the elevation and course layout but the greens were the worst I’ve ever seen absolutely shot out. Maybe their planning on redoing them but they didn’t even mention that in the club house
Neglected
Greens were very bad. Otherwise, not a bad experience. Maybe as the summer progresses, the greens will improve but it appeared they’d been neglected for quite some time.
Greens are rough
I love this course. The lay out is awesome and it is very challenging. You have to think about the right shot. The greens are in horrible shape. We had to play the two out rule. I fixed my divot and the entire green came up. I am not sure if it was due to the cold weather or not. I will go back in the summer but I wouldn’t go back any time soon. Sorry still waters. Your staff is awesome though.
