Selkirk Golf Club
About
Built in 1924 and designed by the legendary Willie Park, Selkirk Golf Club is a nine-hole run that is the perfect complement to the historic Scottish Borders golf scene. Overlooking the delightful town of Selkirk, the golf course provides its players spectacular views of the Linglie Hills as well as the distinct rolling hills of Ettrick & Yarrow.
Featuring a unique and distinct nine-hole layout, Selkirk Golf Club provides a challenge for all players and a day at the course that will require all a player's skills to score low. The No. 8 hole - known as the "Long Hole" - requires two well-placed shots to give a player a short approach shot to a green concealed by heathery mounds.
The late Dick Smith, a former Scottish Amateur, Walker Cup and multi-international champion, was a member at Selkirk and enthusiastically crowed that the course was a true test for golfers of all levels. Accuracy is a must at this course that will play to more than 5,000 yards if played from the diverse tee setting offered to make for a full 18-hole experience.
Outside of the spectacular views and challenging play, Selkirk Golf Club adds a unique feature in the Scottish Border golf region - the club operates on the honesty system for both payment and tee times, as visitors are invited to come play this intriguing and historic course any time they like.

Tricky course, pretty views
This is a 9 hole course that's situated on the side of a hill, with lots of gorse, grass, bushes and some tight fairways to protect itself from low scores. The course itself was in very good condition
There are some decent climbs here, so perhaps not suitable for all levels of fitness. It probably doesn't favour the higher handicap players either.
