Nice Welcome: Challenging Course:
Nice Welcome from Lady Starter & Cooper the Dog. Asked if we had played course before and asked if we needed or wanted to know anything the course, shown where to start and asked to play from sides or of mats(usual winter rules on most courses). Course was in good=condition but maybe just a bit wet(Given the weather lately this was no surprise). The course is somewhat challenging and quite hilly and sometimes a little bit of a walk between greens to Tees, however the views particularly at top of course are stunning, the greens themselves were in fairly good conditions and had been tined lately(a bit surprising that all greens were actually on) a cunning stream meanders throughout the course strategically affecting play on some of the holes. We absolutely loved the challenge of this course and ball loses were minimal. The fairways were quite wide and open but strategic shots were required here and there. As we were walking around we met one of the greenkeepers who again was very affable and asked us if we were enjoying our round and agreed with us about how challenging the course was. Quite a lot of work was going on e.g. more drainage etc.(always a sign that the course is cared for).
In summary: Very good welcome, Long Hilly and challenging course, good condition for time of year, good playable greens in general a very good day out.
Enjoyable!!
Played 1st time with my cousin,we both really enjoyed the course ,few hills so next time I'll be hiring a buggy I think, fairways were in great condition ,also the greens immaculate.. we enjoyed mostly the challenging holes over the burns or pond. Its well mapped out which helps alot, Would defo play this course again and will be looking to in near future.
Appalling experience
I would like to bring to your attention the awful experience that I had with my son on Saturday 11th of November as a visitor to your club.
I had booked a tee off time for 12pm via the golf now app as I have done for many other courses without issue. When I arrived with my 16 year old son we were told by the pro shop that I had no booking despite showing them the attached booking screenshot which I enclose for your perusal. After much discussion I was advised to just go up to the first tee and proceed for the 12pm slot. Having stood at the top awaiting the 11.50 slot t off I was approached by 3 members who said they were due off at 12pm and that they are playing and were quite abrasive and threatening to me in front of my son who was emotionally upset by their behaviour and aggression. I had shown them my booking via golf now but they told me they couldn’t care less about the booking as they were already booked for 12.
This simply is unacceptable behaviour from members and this whole episode should and could have been avoided if the booking system was fit for purpose however double booking visitors and then having to put them into a situation where we felt threatened was completely unacceptable. This was the first time I brought my son to the club as a treat and had planned to go into the clubhouse for some food after our round but were in no mood to hang about as our day was completely ruined by this experience.
Great course
Course was liking great, greens were challenging in the best way, a good couple of holes where you need to make a decision if driver is the best option off the tee.
No Food
Very nice laid out course. Some really nice views and quirky holes. Stuck behind 3 elderly gentlemen who refused to let us through so we were 5-10 minutes waiting at each tee. But it was a lovely day so we had some sorely needed putting practice. The only thing that lets Kilsyth down is that the clubhouse was closed so no eating or drinking facilities. Otherwise I enjoyed the day
Winter Conditions
Played a two ball here on 4th January, the conditions were frosty but dry. The club had to only allow 9 holes (played round twice) to be played due to flooding. The course was ok to play, however the winter greens were not marked out and some of them were not suitable to even be called a winter greens as they were unplayable for putting on.
A hidden gem in the fells
Booked for a walking work meeting, and found a cracking course with lots of interesting holes. Greens soft due to rain but consistent. Great views of Central Scotland. Friendly staff in pro shop.
Unhelpful
On the day we were due to play I felt really unwell so advised the course I wouldn’t be attending as I didn’t feel safe to do so under the current circumstances
I was very surprised to find out we would be put out with some random player ..not ideal for him or us I would have thought
Anyway…the guy at the course wasn’t interested, just took my money, and trying to contact golf now is a joke, the only way to contact you is by writing a letter….really!
I won’t visit Kilsyth again and I won’t use this app again
Chatty and friendly office and ground staff. A little hilly for over middleaged folk but worth it for the views and challenging greens.
Hard slog
Well looked after course, greens in great condition. Long walks in between tees and wasn’t the best playing pace with five young boys playing ahead of us.
Tricky greens
Rough was tough and the greens were quick ! So much so I 3putted far to many times for my liking !
Great views!
Cracking course with excellent views.
Bit of a slog on foot, take a trolley!!
Well laid out course, brill greens
Played today 24th Aug, sun splitting trees, course absolutely in brilliant nick.
Longish very hilly but brilliant views, well worth a vang.
Really nice course and some testing tee shots,,only bad point some tees need alittle work apart from that enjoyable days golf.
